🚨Deadline: 🚨Please Share, Tag and comment help save these pups!

SBCAS is reaching out regarding two Belgian Malinois dogs in urgent need of rescue: Maple (A535407) and Boysenberry (A535787). Both dogs have faced significant challenges, likely living on the streets for an extended period. As a result, they are severely under-socialized and fearful of humans, requiring specialized care and rehabilitation.

About Maple (A535407): Picture 1

Age: 1 year

Intake Date: September 11

About: Maple is extremely fearful, but we’ve seen some progress. She’s food-motivated and will cautiously approach staff for treats, though she still struggles with being touched.

Needs: Continued socialization, trust-building exercises, and gradual exposure to new environments. She would thrive in a patient foster home committed to her rehabilitation.

About Boysenberry(A535787):

Age: 3 years

Intake Date: September 22

About: boysenberry is also fearful but has shown signs of curiosity. She will walk around her kennel and come to the door but remains wary of physical interaction.

Needs: Like Maple, she will benefit from a structured rehabilitation plan, focusing on leash training, handling, and exposure to different surroundings.

Due to limited interaction with humans, they are extremely fearful and will need time, patience, and consistent work to overcome their fear of people. We are seeking a specialized rescue that can provide the time, resources, and rehabilitation plan necessary to help these dogs learn to trust and eventually thrive.

Maple and Boysenberry will need rescue commitment by Monday, September 30th.🚨

If your organization can assist with either Maple or Boysenberry, or both, please contact us [email protected].

I’m a young, male English Cocker Spaniel with a beautiful red coat. I was found as a stray on 9/18/2024, and now I’m looking for my owner.

The shelter staff estimate that I’m about 1 year old and I weigh around 17.5 lbs.

Right now, I’m staying at the SBCAS shelter in Lompoc, located at 1501 W Central Ave. I might be available for adoption starting on 09/22/2024. The shelter is open from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Please share and help me find my family!

So, If you were looking to help our Santa Maria, Lompoc, and Santa Barbara animal shelters survive our ANIMAL SHELTER CRISIS, - here it is! Our Santa Maria and Santa Barbara Shelter are in DESPERATE need of FOSTERS and we especially need fosters with dog experience! But more than anything, we need people committed to helping an animal in need! So let’s start with the Green and Blue Dogs.

We have Green dogs that are easier to handle and these dogs have been on day fosters or foster. So we know a lot about them. If you are looking for an easy foster ask for a green dog.

Blue dogs are similar to our green dogs but might need a little training. If you are ok with fostering a dog that needs a little help settling into your home, ask for a blue dog.

Additionally, we are seeking foster homes that can take in a solo pet! We have so many dogs living at our Santa Maria and Santa Barbara Shelters for no other reason than they cannot live with other pets, or may need slow introductions to new people, or taught proper leash skills. While these may make a dog’s initial introduction more challenging, all of these behaviors are manageable, and we have an experienced team here to support you.

“When life gave me lemons, I made lemonade to share with friends” – Blue

Blue arrived in October 2022, severely malnourished and in need of urgent care. After overcoming neglect, he’s now a healthy, charming, and goofy dog ready for a loving home.

While many dogs struggle in shelters, Blue thrived. Loved by volunteers and staff, he enjoyed playgroups, walks, baths, and foster outings. Blue is gentle with treats, loves the beach, and is always happy to see friends. Even as a stray, he was kind to humans and animals alike.

🏠 House Trained: Blue is fully house trained, so no need to worry about accidents—he’s got it all under control!
🥅 Crate Trained: He is also crate trained, giving him a safe and cozy space where he can feel secure.
🥰Friendly and Playful: Blue is great with the shelter team. His joyful, outgoing personality shines through, bringing happiness to those he meets.  He’s enjoys people and loves to wrestle with other dogs.
🛁Enjoys Bath Time: Splashing in the water and bath time are among Blue’s favorite things.
💖 Belly Rubs Enthusiast: Blue is all about belly rubs—give him a good scratch, and you’ll have a friend for life.
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Loves Companionship: Blue enjoys being with his humans, but he’s also independent and won’t cause trouble when you’re at work. He’ll happily relax near you while you go about your day.
🚛 🚗 Travel Pro: Blue is calm in cars, enjoys the ride, and is well-behaved—making him a great travel buddy for daily drives.
🐾 Knows Commands: Blue can sit, lie down, come when called, and walk politely on a leash. He’s friendly with strangers but not pushy. Whether jogging or strolling, he’ll stop pulling when asked.

Looking for a loyal, happy companion?  Blue will enrich and brighten lives in a loving forever home. For more information or to meet Blue in person, please visit the Santa Barbara Shelter or email his advocate at mailto:[email protected] BLUE - ID
