I was the first thing you saw when you opened your eyes....and the last when you closed them.
The only solace I have is that you were with us your whole entire life.

Our beautiful boy Sterling has passed away.
He came to us nearly a year ago...battered and bruised and needing a place to lay his head. We took him in and even though he was FIV+ and in the beginning stages of kidney failure, he thrived. He never let us pet him, but we could get close and he responded to our voices.
Over the past couple of days he appeared to be slowing down and didn't want to eat. Last night when we checked on him he was sleeping peacefully in a little cat tree....this morning his little body was in the same position but his soul was in heaven.
We will miss your beautiful face and your magnificent paws!. We love you Sterling.

Here is the thing!.
Sometimes people will tag us in a post and ask us to "rescue back" because some random person has offered to foster!. Well maybe this will get me into trouble...
but this is something we would never do. We have incredibly strict quarantine guidelines and none of our foster parents accept other kittens from other rescues while fostering for us!. Our fosters have one litter at a time!. And usually just foster for us. Our fosters are amazing and we trust them implicitly!. Not saying there aren't terrific people out there offering to foster!. Fostering saves lives!....but there are guidelines and skills to fostering.

Please please rescue responsibly!. We all want to save as many precious lives as we can!... but taking in litter after litter and mixing litters without having quarantined and testing them...is not rescue!..it's just being irresponsible!. Having unvaccinated little kittens run around your home and intacting with adult cats is not rescue as it should be done!. Small kittens should be treated as fragile little beings with underdeveloped immune systems....contracting things your adult cats may have but your adult cats have no symptoms!
Kittens should not be walking on floors where people have walked with shoes from the outside!..
All toys and litterpans and anything they come in contact with should be cleaned appropriately.
PANLEUKOPENIA is one of the most highly contagious and virulent viruses!. It kills quickly and with prompt care can be treated ....but if you have young kittens please be careful!.
