Leptospirosis is a year round concern in our area even if your dog doesn’t go to the beach.

Lepto can be spread by rodents and other wildlife. It is most prevalent in areas near water sources and in wet seasons since the urine of an infected animal contaminates the environment and the bacteria survives long in water.

Is your dog current on Lepto vaccinations?

The 300-mile California coast from Santa Cruz to Sonoma is seeing an outbreak of leptospirosis impacting sea lions, which could be spread to people and pets.

Lacey is a cute smart 4 1/2 year old spayed female 25 lb mixed breed dog. She might be part mini Aussie and might have some poodle in there. Her coat is soft and may need clipping (came to us with medium length fur recently.) She's vaccinated and microchipped. She's good with other dogs and people. She has not been evaluated with cats or children but there's no reason to think she would be a problem. She is crate trained, housetrained and rides nicely in the car. She is quiet in the house when left in the crate but dislikes being left alone outside (will bark and scratch the door.) Needs more leash training. Comes when called if off a leash. She might do well with agility or just an active lifestyle with an individual or family. Currently in foster care with me in Watsonville.

Adoption is free but vaccines and spay/neuter deposit will be required.

WE HAVE KITTENS and their “Mama Odie.”

Mama Odie was a stray that had her babies in a backyard. They were found by a concerned citizen who reached out on Facebook. We seized the opportunity to take them all in so we could play with these five adorable kittens until they can leave their mother.

Kittens are five weeks old and can be adopted now but will stay with their mom and siblings for another month. We want to ensure they get the best start possible both nutritionally and psychologically.

Two all black male kittens (and sweet friendly sealpoint shorthair mom) are available for adoption. (Three kittens are spoken for.)
