A new concept for emergency pet care is finally coming to Santa Fe. This week on Pet Chat with Murad & Bobbi, broadcasting from Teca Tu, a Pawsworthy Pet Emporium, co-founder of Turquoise Trail Veterinary Urgent Care, Jared Lyons shares a preview of a new urgent care model for pets and how pet guardians will benefit when they open in 2024.

Plus, Guard Dog is finally free after years of being chained up.

We are sad to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dawn Bick. She and Paul were the owners of SFC prior to F&F purchasing it so they could enjoy retirement and travel.

As you are probably aware, Santa Fe Cats is owned and operated by Felines & Friends New Mexico which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. F&F rescues and places cats in need of a second chance.

These cats come to F&F for various reasons such as their guardian going into a care facility or passing away, owner-surrenders, abandonment, and transfers from other shelters.
Since 2002, over 5,000 cats and kittens have found loving homes. While many of the cats are placed in foster homes until they are ready for adoption, others are housed at Santa Fe Cats upstairs and in our Intake room.

It takes a team of cat-loving staff and volunteers to care for all the cats, both rescues and guests. All shifts have at least two staff members, and often three. In addition, the length of each shift has been extended to ensure the best possible care of each cat.
Your continued support through boarding your feline family members at SFC helps F&F continue its mission.

However, over the last several years, operating costs have increased significantly; from food and litter to insurance. In addition, our dedicated staff are paid well above the minimum wage.
It has been over a year since SFC increased its fees. Therefore, effective May 1st 2023, the per night rate will increase as will some other services as detailed as follows:

One cat: $35/night
Each additional cat in the same suite: $20/night

Holiday Surcharge: $10/night per suite.
In order to pay additional wages to our staff for providing care on major holidays. Please visit www.santafecats.com for further information.

Santa Fe Cats is the only pet hotel in Santa Fe to offer discounts for extended stays [excluding peak holiday periods as posted on our website]
5% for 16 nights or more; 10% for 31 nights or more

Nail Clipping: $10 per cat
Daycare: $25 for one cat; $15 each additional cat
Sub-q fluids: $10 [supplied by owner] $20 [supplied by SFC]
Administration of Insulin [with glucose monitoring]: $10 per dose
Transport: $30 [SF City], $40 [SF County] [subject to staff availability]

Check in/out 7 days a week [closed major holidays]
8:30 am – 12:00 noon; 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Since our prices are per night and check outs are expected during our morning hours, there is an additional fee of $15 per suite for all afternoon check outs.

After hours check ins/outs are charged at $20/per hour, or part thereof, subject to staff availability.

Personal items are discouraged for sanitary reasons. All owner-supplied food must be labelled with the owner’s last name on the side [not top]. If not labelled, a $20 fee will be charged for staff time to label.

The current Santa Fe County tax of 7.0% will be assessed on all services.

Checks are the preferred payment method. However, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and PayPal. A processing fee of 3.8% will be added to credit card transactions.

SFC continues to be the only bark-free boarding facility located in a quiet neighborhood away from road noise and fumes. We are also the only facility offering additional services such as the administration of sub-q fluids and insulin.

Our spacious suites are light and airy with access to secure catios as the weather permits. The cats now enjoy remote controlled awnings over the catios on hot days and full climate control inside thanks to the installation of mini-splits throughout the facility.

We look forward to welcoming your cat(s) soon.

Gypsy and her new roommate, Jack are now sharing the window in our reception room.

Gypsy still requires a small dose of insulin every 11-12 hours. However, within a couple of weeks of switching Jack’s diet to grain-free wet food from junk dry, he no longer requires insulin and is ready for a new home.

Sadly, his former owners “didn’t want to deal” with his diabetes diagnosis and were planning on having him euthanized.
