When Kyle turned 5 years old, he came to me and said he wanted to play baseball. So as most of you know, the rest of the story and I coached him for the next 11 years or so in football, baseball and basketball. As they say, history repeats itself. I am again attempting to open a hatchery with poultry. I currently have about 900 hens that are laying about 400 eggs a day and will get up to 500-600 e
ggs a day before it slows down again. In the spring (or maybe earlier) I am going to start incubating eggs from the 10 breeds of birds that I currently have at the farm. Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Delaware X's, Americaunas (Easter Eggers), Red S*x Links, Black S*x Links, Astrolops, Buff Orpingtons and Red Broilers. I will be selling to the public as well as local feed stores. I currently sell eggs from the farm for $4.50 a dozen for normal sized eggs and $5.50 for Jumbos. These birds (as you can tell by the photos) are free range from dusk to dawn only to be put up at night in their secure pens. Feel free to call me anytime for questions or to see if eggs are available. I advertise on Craigslist and Facebook for sales. We are selling some of our oldest girls (about 20 months old) to the public. These girls have been on Pasture their lives and antibiotic free. They are docile, gentle and know how to forage for food. They do need to be supplemented with feed. They are only $10 with no limit. The picture below is a picture of what they look like. We only have ONE breed. I must be crazy to be selling the number #1 selling specialty egg in Houston/Galveston at these prices, but I’ve never been accused of thinking right! Lol. Your gain is my loss! We have our Medium cases of eggs (180) 15 dozen for only $35 each, normally $50 a case. That’s only $2.33 a dozen. In this era of high inflation? 🤷♂️. We also have jumbo eggs for $6 a dozen (normally $7) or only $5 a dozen if you purchase a case of 12 dozen! Our small eggs that are normally $40 a case are now $25 or get this, only……..$1.66 a dozen! Kenz Henz the only local Pastured eggs in the Houston/Galveston Grocer shelves. You can find us in the egg section of both HEB and Kroger stores. Our eggs can now be found in over 200 locations in Houston/Galveston area. Our girls are pastured daily in clean fields located just outside of Santa Fe, Texas between Houston/Galveston. We move their houses weekly so they are always on fresh salad bars and they are protected at night in safe clean houses. In the past weeks we have been stocking up 115 more Kroger stores in Houston with our eggs so more of our customers have easier accessibility to our eggs. It is one of the most important things that can be done in raising Poultry in Pastures. If a pastured farm is not moving their houses so the girls can be on fresh grasses regularly, then are they really achieving Pasture Raised Chickens? If they are not moving their houses and if you are purchasing them, then you may as well be eating the .99 cent eggs. The grasses, weeds, seeds and bugs give extra "nutrition and taste" to the egg.
