Ever feel like you're being watched?! 👀

All of the horses have their own exclusive turnouts attached to their stables with personal hay balls, yet they seem to get a lot more enjoyment spying on us in the tack room!

Keeping this positive...

We like to finish all training sessions with a debrief between horse and rider, a moment of reflection, and a chance to acknowledge what went well, the progress made, and the small successes.

We equestrians often hold high expectations for ourselves and our horses, we either set unachievable goals or unrealistic deadlines. Even when we do get it right, we can often overlook the journey while being too hung up on reaching the end result.

So, let this be your reminder to enjoy every moment and celebrate the small wins!

Next up on the team to meet - Ashley, Assistant Trainer at Via Nova!

Most of Ashley's equine experience comes from her time at the University of Minnesota Crookston, followed by an internship at an equine rescue in Nicholasville, KY. Ashley's riding journey started out in western, before branching out to hunter jumper and dressage.

Ashley had limited knowledge and experience of Positive Reinforcement before coming to Via Nova, other than starting clicker training with her dog, now, she is a true ambassador and advocate of Priority to Positive 🙌

Does anyone else's horses just know to stand and perfectly pose before and after every ride to allow for a mandatory photoshoot?

Dhyana and Westley doing some reverse round pen training! 🙌

This setup is great for Positive Reinforcement training (R+) as it gives the horse freedom to choose if they want to participate or not! From an R+ approach, this provides us with a lot of information. Of course, there are times when do not like their choice, but that challenges us to take positive steps towards improving their motivation and focus ✅

Have you tried this training exercise? ⬇️

Have you ever heard of the term WOOF being used in Positive Reinforcement? 🤔

When training with a marker and Positive Reinforcement, it’s important to communicate clearly to your horse. In each training session, try to WOOF it! This process is great for ensuring what you're asking is ticking all the right boxes and setting you up for success, giving a clear question for the horse to answer! ✅
