Useful tips for new puppy pawrents, especially those with young children. 💛🐾💛

Gates are a fabulous choice as a success station. You can easily use a gate to create separation from your dog and baby, plus it gives your dog a lot of space to move around easily and be where they need to be.

👍🏼You could be in the kitchen and gate off a room that your dog can relax in while you have baby out. X-pen, can help you space off an specific area in your home (perhaps in the middle of a room!) and is another fantastic option as you can set it up in pretty much any room in your house.

Though it may require you to change the layout in your home but, you can also use an x-pen to create a safe play space for your child. Any toys that your child or dog would use while playing in the x-pen will be protected and separation between dog and child is still happening with this choice.

✅A helpful tip is that with each of these choices, please be sure to introduce this gradually to your family dog, especially if your dog has not been around any of these setups previously.

Both parents have clearances for hips, elbows, heart and eyes (mama also has shoulder, patella, and dentention) and full genetic testing to ensure puppies aren’t affected by any of the diseases common to the Golden Retriever breed. We start potty training at 3 weeks, crate training is introduced at 4 weeks, and I imprint a default safety recall w all of my litters (including link for video in comments). Additionally, we start ENS (early neurological stimulation) at 3 days old and I utilize a combination of AviDog and PuppyCulture for early socialization, counterconditioning, and desensitization.
