Volume up to hear this terrifying beast. I think Freddy is pretending to be a lion in a cage at a zoo. (Don’t worry, he escapes and makes it to Africa to join a pride in the wild and lives happily ever after)
Meanwhile, here in the real world, our split heater/ac unit is extremely loud, in case you can hear it over the roaring lion. It sounds like we’re running a rescue in a power plant.
Freddy and his family will be up for adoption in 4 weeks!

We are so proud of little Phoenix, she truly is a little trooper. Thanks to Dogwood, Shirley Zindler and Wine Country Grooming for their continued support. It takes a village of wonderful people to rescue dogs like Phoenix. Thanks also to her foster mama, Jen Cadd.
We can’t wait to see Phoenix rise in a loving environment. 💕🙏💪🐕

To Our Friends, Volunteers, and Supporters:

We are heartbroken.

We have lost two Troopers. China survivor King George attacked Don Frijolito – Odessa's senior special needs chihuahua missing his lower jaw - breaking his neck and causing numerous other injuries. The injuries were so severe that we had to let Don go. At the veterinarians' recommendation, and after consulting with other respected experts, we also made the painful decision to euthanize King George. We could not risk that this could happen again.

The gravity and finality of euthanizing a dog cannot be overstated, nor can the tragedy of losing a family member so brutally. The entire chain of events has been devastating. Countless lies, insults, and threats are being communicated to us, both on social media and privately.

We are also being threatened with a lawsuit, and so, we hope that our followers will understand that we will not be making further public comment. We also continue to grieve, and ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.

We’ve got puppies again! 5 to be exact, from a hoarding case. Their mom’s will need a lot of time and patience, like most dogs from these situations.

We have so many dogs who need extra love and attention at the moment, especially King George. If you’re interested in fostering, if you have have time and love to spare, our troopers sure could use the help! 💕🙏

Volunteers make the world go round. The ones who show up week after week, year after year. They change lives, just by showing up. They give their time to little dogs who’ve never been made to feel worthy of anyone’s time.
Nothing says love like consistency, patience, understanding and kindness. We are endlessly grateful for their selflessness and so are the troopers.

King George, Zeus and all the other troopers enjoyed a walk to the mailbox today, pretty exciting stuff. 😂
George is still waiting for his prosthetics and also for his new home. We’ve not had a single application for this beautiful little soul. We’re dreaming of a home where he will be the center of attention and where he can enjoy life like his back paws were never stolen from him.
We will find your people George, hang in there little friend. 💕

These two gorgeous humans mean so much to me and to dogs we save at Little Trooper Ranch. It blows my mind how much time and energy it takes to save 100 or so dogs a year and we could not do it without the dedication of Mark Penn and Kathleen Daly.

They are the wind, the sails and the rudder. They’re the people who do what they say they’re gonna do, the people who show up, the people who are capable in just about every single way.
They are rare and beautiful and today they spent their entire day driving, lifting, brainstorming and sitting in traffic just to raise a few dollars for the dogs in our care.
(See what I mean?)
The gratitude I have in my heart for these two and for everybody on our team is endless. Thank you for keeping this ship afloat, Mark and Kathleen. You are the finest examples of our species. 💕

Introducing Magic! He’s 7 pounds of beauty and sweetness with a little bit of trauma. He’s making huge strides each day and his freckles are everything. More new troopers on the way, we’ve been down for a bit with a mouse problem, a rat problem and a covid problem but we are on our way back! Stay tuned!

Brace yourself for extreme cuteness! This senior papillon has had a tough month, he lost his mom and his sister but he’s with us now so hopefully we can reassure him that everything is okay. He’s understandably nervous so we’re letting him decompress. He’s a bit undersocialized but we’ll work on that.

Whew - what a week! We don't complain about busy times around the Ranch - busy-ness usually means that things are happening. And they are! In this past few days alone, we had a spay/neuter clinic (serving about 10 animals), a Board of (our awesome) Directors meeting, two more pups arriving (even though we are beyond full 😟) including another refugee from the China markets, seven adoptions (see pictures), and a panopoly of other Trooper action. We are officially tired, but happy to have been able to help these amazing little souls. We can't do it without you, though, so we thank you -again- for all of your help. More life-saving action to come, you can be sure. ❤️

Finally Butterfly has found her friend. King George loves her and she plays gently with him, like she does with no one else.

More pics of these two, sorry but after 5 months of getting them here, we must revel in the satisfaction of overcoming great odds. The success is mostly thanks to slaughterhouse survivors and their extraordinary work.
Here you can see King George’s back legs, where his paws were chopped off.
We are on the lookout for a creative mind who can come up with a creative solution for this precious soul and a dedicated forever home with the means to properly care for him.

This is Rumple.
He is a he, not an “it”. (Just fyi)
He is 15 pounds of love, we don’t care what his DNA says.
He was bred by nature so he’s healthy and has zero deformities.
He has a normal snout that he can actually breathe with.
He has zero skin issues.
He can eat anything and be fine.
His bones don’t break when he jumps off of furniture.
He is smart and brave.
He will take a bullet for his person.
He’s athletic but will never run away.
He loves other dogs and humans.
He is absolute perfection. 💕

Guinness is looking more like a sheep every day!
This little dog is so special. He loves to feel the wind in his curls as we drive around town, he sleeps like a champ on his favorite chair in the living room and sometimes sleeps on one of the many dog beds in his foster moms room. He is loyal to a fault.
He likes snuggles and is becoming an easy keeper.
He struggles a bit with separation anxiety but it’s lessening every day.
We are so proud of our 12 pound black sheep dog!

Calling all pom lovers! This guy is 12 pounds (or so) and he needs a good leader. He guards food and is not the best with othe dogs but we believe he will thrive in the right home. He’s being returned to us so we need a foster home asap.
