BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

GG is 8 years 5 months-old and sponsored by Linda Higgins. SNAP Cats rescued GG from Rohnert Park, CA. Don’t let that "way-to-serious" face fool you. GG is a very sweet, loving, chill kitty, who’s fairly independent and doesn’t need a whole lotta attention, other than his twice-daily insulin injections, which he takes extremely well (doesn't even notice). GG gets along fine with the others here, is kinda picky about his wet food (but he DEFINITELY likes his wet food!), and just kinda sits around and watches the world go by him.

If you’re interested in GG please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks!

This is Jewel. She’s 3 years 6 months-old and sponsored by Lynn Richardson. SNAP Cats rescued Jewel from Merced, CA. Jewel is just that: a real jewel. She’s the first kitty to greet you when you come in the room, and won’t let you leave until she gets your attention, plenty of pets and everything that goes along with that. Jewel gets along great with the other kitties, so she’d be fine in a home with other cats.

BTW: Please don't be afraid of FIV. It's nothing. Really. Slightly compromised immune system. That's it. Just like a FIV- cat, Jewel will live a long, healthy life if you take good care of her. Jewel's not aggressive toward other cats so there's no chance of her transmitting it.

If you’re interested in Jewel please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Ollie is 10 months-old and sponsored by Mayra Sanchez. Beji is 4 years 7 months-old and sponsored by Alice Weigel. SNAP Cats rescued Ollie from Stockton, CA, and Beji from Kuwait. Both of these kittens are full of energy and love to play, especially with one another. Ollie is a very sweet cat, once he gets to know you. Then it’s lap time and belly rubs... and more belly rubs! Ollies eyes don’t bother him. He’s not in any pain, so we decided to not enucleate what’s left of his eyes until they become a problem. Hopefully that’ll never happen. And Beji loves attention, being pet, and LOVES to play fetch with a crinkly toy. (We’ll get a video of him playing fetch soon). Both kitties will make a wonderful addition to any home!

If you’re interested in Ollie and Beji please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

This is Mittens. She’s 16 years-old and arriving today at 1pm from Brentwood, CA, with her dad, Chris.

Okay, try to follow this: Mittens is coming here because Chris’ children are highly allergic to pet dander. So, Mittens has been staying with Chris’ parents (grandparents) for the past five years. (Wouldn’t that make the grandparents Mitten’s mom and dad?). Anyway, the grandparents are moving to a new place which does not allow any pets, so Mittens needed rescue.

According to Chris, Mittens is very laid-back and affectionate. She gets along well with other cats as well as dogs, as long as they do not antagonize her. Even when antagonized by the family dog, Mittens is indifferent. Mittens regularly uses the litter box and has recently completed a senior blood panel with no red flags, aside from being hyperthyroid for which she is currently on medication.

Thanks, Chris, for bringing mittens to SNAP Cats.

This little cutie is Hartley. He’s about 7 weeks-old. Hartley was found in a graveyard in Lakeport, CA. We think someone dumped him there because he’s very affectionate. Hartley’s has mobility challenges in his right front leg but gets around just fine. He will be arriving here today at about 2pm. You can watch Hartley’s arrival on our live we**am at https://www.youtube.com//streams. Click on the “Kitten Room” we**am.

Thank you, Jenna, for rescuing Hartley from the graveyard. And thank you, Julie, for driving Hartley here from Lakeport.

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

Meet Clyde. He's 2 years-old and sponsored by Amber Wells. SNAP Cats rescued Clyde from Kings County (CA). When Clyde first arrived with his sister, Bonnie, they were very bonded. Since then, the two have gradually de-bonded (there’s that word again!), and Bonnie was adopted! YAY!

Clyde can be a bit skittish to begin with, but once he gets to know you, he’ll warm up quickly, especially if there’s food involved! Despite missing both back paws, Clyde gets around great. His legs stay sore-free, so they shouldn’t be an issue in the future. Clyde did have a hematoma on his ear, thus the crinkling, but it’s healed, and we think adds a lot of character.

If you’re interested in Clyde please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

BUTTON & PRINCESS

Button, who is about 1 years-old, arrived at the Yolo County Animal Services shelter on 8/7/24 with severe facial injuries, including a jaw fracture/misaligned jaw and an injured eye. The jaw fracture is causing her secondary left canine to hit her hard palate when her mouth fully closes. The shelter enucleated the injured eye and attempted to correct her jaw fracture. However, after her recheck they do believe she will need another surgery to try to correct her jaw or at least remove the problem canine tooth. So the shelter contacted us…

And the rest is history.

Luckily, we have Dr. Erin, who agreed to examine Button and, at least, remove her problem canine tooth. If her jaw can be corrected Dr. Erin will do that as well. But in the least, Button will be able to close her mouth without any pain.

Behavior wise, Button is a very darling kitty who always seeks attention (even when she had the bad eye she was still looking for those pets!). In foster care, her foster mom, Mary, says Button likes to talk to her and will give little meows when Mary is in the other room. Button is eating great and using her litter box normally.

THIS JUST IN: Button’s foster mom, Mary, wants to adopt Button! So after Button sees Dr. Erin, Button will go back to Mary. YAY!

Princess is about 16 years-old who was brought to the Yolo County Animal Services shelter after her owner passed away. Princess is a sweet girl who will purr right away with some attention. Princess's former owner took very good care of her and had been treating her for her hyperthyroidism.

Thank you, Kim, for driving these two here today. Thank you, Yolo County Animal Services, for taking care of Button and Princess until she arrives at SNAP Cats! And thank you, Mary, for wanting to adopt Button!

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Coconut (a.k.a. Kookie Nut) is 4 years 1 month-old and sponsored by Stephanie Upton. SNAP Cats rescued Coconut from Bakersfield, CA, where he was going to be euthanized for being FIV+. Yes, that still happens today! Which is SO sad because Coconut is such a sweet, super friendly (kookie) cat that loves human attention. He’s the first kitty to greet you when you enter the room. Coconut can be combative with other cats, especially when there's wet food involved, but mellows a bit once he gets to know them. Coconut would be best as an only cat, but would probably be fine with an older cat that keeps to themselves. (And we learned the other day that he's a great mouser! WHY IS THIS SWEETIE STILL HERE?!!!

This handsome man is Ross. He’s 5 years 9 months-old and sponsored by Amber Wells. SNAP Cats rescued Ross from Fresno, CA. Ross is the sweetest cat ever! Ross will fit in beautifully with a family who either has other cats or not.

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

Gracie is 1 year 2 months-old and needs a sponsor! SNAP Cats rescued Gracie from San Leandro, CA. Despite her age, Gracie runs around like a 3 month-old kitten. She’s extremely playful and one of the happiest kitties we’ve had in a long time. Gracie can be a bit shy at first when meeting new faces, but once she gets to know you she LOVES the attention. Gracie uses the litter box 100% of the time and gets along great with the other kitties. She’ll make a wonderful addition to any home, either with our without other cats.

Gracie completed treatment for FIP on April 2, 2024. Although we can’t guarantee that Gracie won’t develop FIP again, she’s remained very healthy since completing her treatment.

If you’re interested in Gracie please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

We just rescued two kittens from Solano County, Tipsy (yes we are) and Spunky (we’re thinking about it). Tipsy is, well, ataxic. Big surprise. Spunky has neurological challenges. We don’t have any pictures, but you can see both at the links below:

Tipsy - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vhxJeP_JGq8 – Lilac Pt Snowshoe, about 4-1/2 months old

Spunky - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EWMkEOyn92g – Brown Tabby, about 2-1/2 months-old

Both are males, neutered, chipped and ready to go!

Jennifer is 10 months-old and is sponsored by Stefanie Kraus. SNAP Cats rescued Jennifer from Santa Cruz, CA. Jennifer is a typical kitten: running, playing, climbing, and wanting to be in your lap for pets and attention. Oh, and her coat is as soft and smooth as you’ll ever feel! Jennifer’s mild mobility challenges in her rear legs is hardly even noticeable, unless you look really, really close. Jennifer gets along great with other cats, uses the box 100% of the time, and will fit in very nicely with a family with one or more cats.

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Topper is 6 years 4 months-old and sponsored by Mary DeVincenzi. SNAP Cats rescued Topper from Sacramento, CA. Topper, and his two siblings, Bear and Teddy III, are here because their dad had passed away and they needed a CH-friendly rescue to take them. Topper is very friendly and vocal. He let’s you know when he wants attention. Topper’s CH is moderate-to-severe, but he gets around just fine. However, right now Topper's not using the the litter box 100% of the time (he poops in the box but doesn't p*e in it). We don't know why. Topper’s not terribly bonded with his brothers (who have the same degree of CH), so Topper could be adopted by himself. (We’d like to see all three go together, but we know that’s a longshot.) Topper gets along great with the other kitties here, so he could be an only cat or mix in nicely with your current kitties.

If you’re interested in Topper (and his brothers?) please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks!

WHITE (WHY IS THIS KITTY STILL HERE?!) CAT WEDNESDAY!

Bea is 3 years 2 months-old and sponsored by Leah Hennen. SNAP Cats rescued Bea from Oakland, CA. Bea does not have any special needs because she came to us bonded with her brother, Bertie, who is a dwarf kitty with ataxia. Once they were here for a while, the two de-bonded (is that a word?), and Bertie was adopted in November 2021.

Bea is the typical, playful cat who can’t seem to run out of energy. Bea LOVES to chase the spring toy. Keeps her entertained for hours. Bea will make a wonderful addition to any family who has a cat or two about her age. If you don't have a cat or two, we can also help with that!

Please note that Bea underwent GS-441524 treatment for FIP in the beginning of 2022. Since her treatment ended in March 2022, her response to the treatment has been extremely positive. Bea shows absolutely no signs of FIP at all. Although we can’t guarantee she won’t develop FIP again (we can’t guarantee ANY cat won’t develop FIP), we’re almost certain that she won’t since she's gone more than two years without any signs of it returning.

If you’re interested in Bea please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

This is Mandy. She arrived at SNAP Cats on September 9, 2018, at the age of 17 years-old. Mandy was adopted from us in March, 2020, at the age of 18 years 9 months-old. Mandy just turned 23 and is doing great!

Mandy is the reason SNAP Cats rescues seniors that’re 15+ years old and sitting in shelter cage waiting to be euthanized because no one wants to adopt a senior cat. Some of these seniors have lived their whole life in a wonderful, spacious home, only to be surrendered (read: discarded!) to a shelter because they’re “old”. When I was the Vet Tech at the old Healdsburg Shelter, we had a family come in to surrender their 17 year-old cat because they “couldn’t take care of him anymore”. The next thing out of their mouth was “Do you have any kittens?”

Grrrrr.

Thank you, Sue and Jeanne, for adopting Mandy and giving her a wonderful home to live out her senior years. You are an extraordinary example of kindness, compassion and commitment to senior kitties.

SNAP Cats is Dedicated to the Rescue and Care of Special Needs Cats.

Animal shelters around the world are full. The first cats to be killed are special needs, seniors and those deemed “unadoptable.” That’s unacceptable.

SNAP Cats is a unique rescue and sanctuary in Santa Rosa, CA (Sonoma County) dedicated to special needs cats. We rescue special needs cats from all around the world, house them, then find them warm, loving homes. We believe, if given time, that ALL cats can find the home that they deserve.

All of our SNAP Cats, regardless of health, age or temperament, are available for adoption or foster care. Those who are not adopted, due to age, illness or temperament, are able to live out the remainder of their natural lives here, in a peaceful, healthy, serene environment.
