Indy passed peacefully with us by his side yesterday 🌈 🐾 💜 He was 13 1/2 years old and has been with us since he was 2 years old. He was a wonderful big brother to Brody and welcomed all of our foster pups over the years. He was the best doggo and will be deeply missed!

10yrs ago today, we saw this video of Brody that brought us to tears. We donated and followed every update on him. Once he became available for adoption we learned that he was less than 20 minutes away from us.

I called Brody’s foster mom, Tracy, who informed me that she had just finished a home visit with a family that was perfect for him. I told her how emotionally attached we were to his story and that as long as he had a good home that was all we cared about.

A few days later Tracy called and told me that the family changed their mind and asked if we were still interested in adopting him. I said assuming he likes us and our then 2yr old Cavalier (Indy) we would absolutely love to adopt him.

Brody came over that Saturday for a home visit and everyone was immediately smitten. Indy and Brody bonded on day one and were instant BFF’s.

Brody was my heart dog and I’m still grieving his loss every day, but I am forever grateful that we got to spend almost 10yrs with him 💜

Our sweet Brody gained his wings on Monday and we are heavily grieving his loss 💔

We adopted Brody a little over 9yrs ago, after he had his vertebrae fractured by his previous owner for having an accident in the house at just 5mo’s old. His hind legs were temporarily paralyzed but he was left permanently incontinent. Despite everything that he experienced he was the sweetest dog you’d ever meet and he loved everyone!

Brody was a tough little guy who overcame many life threatening obstacles over the past 9yrs but he wasn’t able to overcome this last one on his own. We made the heartbreaking decision to help him crossover and be free of pain. We were by his side and he passed peacefully.

Brody reached the hearts of many people all over the world who followed his story from the beginning. It was through Brody that we made many amazing friends that have become a second family.

My daily schedule happily revolved around caring for my little shadow and I’m struggling to find my balance without him. We had a very special bond and our lives were made fuller with him in it.

Brody loved playing with all of our foster pups over the years, chasing balls, playing with toys, dancing with me, and trying to eat all of the things he wasn’t supposed to! He filled our hearts with infinite love and joy. Brody will forever be in our hearts 💕

We’re in pieces but I wanted to let everyone know that we appreciate your messages. Brody was loved by many people and we’re so thankful we had him in our lives. Marc & I were both by his side and he passed peacefully. He was an amazing dog and will be greatly missed. I’d like to think he was greeted by Jake Ryan and Bella. Run free sweet boy 🐾

UPDATE: Our sweet Brody gained his wings Monday afternoon 🦋 🐾 🌈💔

Brody started vomiting and wouldn’t eat so we took him to the ER Friday evening. They gave him anti-nausea medication and antibiotics, both in an injection. However, he still wasn’t eating and we had to force his heart meds & a little bit of food into him. He would only drink water on his own.

A little before 4am this morning he had a seizure. He’s back at the ER and will be there about 12 hours. They’re going to do bloodwork (again) and an ultrasound.

I had taken him to the Vet on Monday to do bloodwork just to make sure his kidneys were still okay because of all of the medication he’s on for his heart. Everything was fine then and the photo was taken when we were on our way there.

We don’t know what’s going on but will keep everyone posted. Please keep him in your thoughts…
