From wearing a muzzle to kisses as I removed painful mats and stickers from his neglected coat. Thankful today for clients who care about their pets well being and those that help save the discarded. 🙏❤️

Spa day for Casper ❤️

Thank you Carrie of Groovy Grooming!

Casper was a filthy, flea infested, matted stray and scheduled for euthanasia in an overcrowded shelter because he was so scared, grumpy and trying to bite. Kind shelter staff knew he wouldn’t be adoptable without some pretty major intervention and reached out for help. He's coming around beautifully with patient gentle handling and today he had what was no doubt his first ever grooming. He did surprisingly well thanks to Carrie’s patience and experience.

Casper is a maltipoo or bichon type of about a year or two old and 11 pounds (he was 13 pounds before grooming). He still needs patience but he’s seeking attention and climbing in laps with a little time.

FLEAS!!!!

Whether you notice itching, bites or not now is the time to make sure your pet is on flea preventative. The damp, rainy weather is a perfect breeding ground for these pesky creatures, and we are starting to see them, even in homes that haven’t had them in years.

Dear Groovy Family, it is with great excitement we share with you the arrival of Sebastian Luke!

Sebastian was born on 8/26 at 3:38am, he was 7lbs 2oz and 20” long. He is healthy and Mom is working on recovering but will be just fine. Carrie already misses regularly seeing you all and she and the family can’t wait to see you and have you meet little Sebastian when Groovy opens again. We extend to you a heartfelt thank you for your loyalty, baby gifts and well wishes.

Carrie asks that you give your pups and kitties a smooch from her today. 💞

LAST day of grooming before we temporarily close for maternity leave! A first time away from our clients both 4 and 2 legged in our 17 years in business. Proud to have made it to nearly 39 weeks, baby will be here soon! I can sincerely say your dogs and cats have enjoyed the added company and care from Danny and Jordan as well as lap cuddles from their very pregnant and tired groomer Auntie.

Q: When can and should a puppy start professional grooming?

A:  At about 10 to 12 weeks of age, and once they have received at least two sets of vaccinations.

 Why? This is very important because it allows your dog to get used to being in a new environment, away from you, with lots of new smells, sounds, tools and requests. At this age necessary grooming needs are much less and allows your professional Groomer to focus more on your dogs, experience and training which is incredibly important to set your dog up for a positive relationship with this lifelong, necessary process. In a dogs first year of life they are learning what to be afraid of and what is just part of every day life. Your professional groomer should be a part of that! Unfortunately, a lot of people feel they are saving money by waiting to bring their dog in until the animal is in great and obvious need. So often this can be a very traumatic experience for the older puppy who is now in a very unfamiliar environment with unfamiliar people, and sounds. If your dog is a coated breed and has become matted likely the only humane thing to do will be to shave your puppy, completely down to the skin. Not only is this not a desirable look for your pup, it can be dangerous and is hard on both groomer, and dog. Despite your groomer trying very hard to best help your puppy he or she will no longer have the cute look you so admired upon completion. On top of that, there will be fees for removing the matted coat, handling fees for the extra skill and care that your dog required and in some extreme cases potential vet visits due to skin reacting poorly to the extensive grooming process. While some dogs are quite resilient many dogs will have lasting difficulty and anxiety when it comes to grooming.

Instead, find and get in with a great groomer. We love making both people AND dogs happy!

Share so that everyone who brings home a puppy (or kitten!) understands why us groomers want to meet your adorable new family addition as soon as we can. It’s not just about getting our cute fix for the day. 😘

Many congratulations to Jet, Mac and Dela for their recent show achievements!! Mac and Dela are still young dogs I have worked with since puppies and handsome senior Jet and I have become good friends the past couple years as I see him monthly. I appreciate their owners and breeders trust in me to care for and prep their prized and loved beauties.

Had the pleasure of helping free this sweet but terrified puppy mill dog from a dirty pelt today. We simply could not tell male or female through the thick matted fur. I carefully worked the blade millimeter by millimeter through the coat looking for testicles or v***a and eventually revealed… we had a girl!

Regular grooming is crucial for the health and happiness of dogs and cats. Help end this abuse by only acquiring dogs from trusted people where you can see the animals living conditions and care. 🙏

Monday makeover for Clifford!

Clifford’s mom requested a cut that kept his cute fluffy look but was short enough to easily maintain. I think we did it and best of all, Clifford was happy too.
