Exciting news! Deputy Boyers and K9 Blake successfully passed the rigorous standardized testing conducted by the Oregon Police Canine Association. This accomplishment certifies them to conduct narcotics searches across the state of Oregon.

K9 Blake is the first police K9 assigned to the Washington County Jail. While Deputy Boyers and K9 Blake are still in training, they are now officially able to conduct searches for m**hamphetamine, co***ne, he**in, and fentanyl within the jail.

Congratulations to Deputy Boyers and K9 Blake on their incredible achievement! Stay tuned for more updates on their continued progress.

Officers make arrest with assistance from K-9 Pinky on students who lit explosive device at Kenilworth Jr. High:

Earlier today, Wednesday 4/3/24, at approximately 11:37 PM, our dispatch center received multiple emergency phone calls reporting an β€˜explosion’ at Kenilworth Junior High School (KJHS) with students running from the school. All available personnel from the Police and Fire Department responded to the school to assist. As officers were arriving, they were informed the explosion was heard near a bathroom next to the quad of the school.

School staff evacuated students to the blacktop while officers searched the campus. After an extensive search, it was determined to be an isolated incident inside a boy’s bathroom. The scene was processed by a member of the Petaluma Police Department Crime Scene Investigation’s Team, and the cause of the explosion was believed to be a commercial grade explosive device similar to that of an M-1000. Luckily, no students or school staff were injured during the incident.

This afternoon, after an extensive investigation and the help of school staff, officers were able to identify the two juvenile KJHS students who were responsible for lighting the explosive device. Both students were arrested for the following charges: felony possession of an explosive device, felony vandalism, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

During the search of the school, we utilized our specialty K-9 β€˜Pinky’. Pinky is a Labrador Pointer mix that is trained to detect and alert to explosives and fi****ms. We are grateful to have such a resource to help keep our community safe.

We would like to thank the school staff for helping keep the students safe and assisting first responders with the search of the school. We would also like to thank those who called 911 providing timely updates to guide our response. This was an unfortunate incident, and our thoughts go out to the students and school staff.

If anyone has additional information, please call 707.778.4372 and reference the report number 24-1432.

K-9 Deputy finds approximately 10 pounds of m**hamphetamine during traffic stop.

On Tuesday, February 13th, at approximately 10:45 am, a deputy conducted a traffic stop near Lakeville Highway and Baywood Drive in Petaluma. During the traffic stop, the deputy learned the driver had a misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Mendocino County and was told there was a m**hamphetamine pipe in the vehicle.

The deputy and his K9 partner conducted a sniff of the vehicle for narcotics and alerted to dog treat boxes inside of the vehicle. The deputy then searched the vehicle and found the dog treat boxes contained packages of m**hamphetamine. The deputy also located additional packages of m**hamphetamine inside of a cat litter box.

There were ten packages (one-pound each) of m**hamphetamine located.

The suspect, 41 year old Angelina Gutierrez, was booked into Sonoma County Jail for felony transportation of a controlled substance and her misdemeanor arrest warrant. Gutierrez bail was $0 and she was later released from custody.

Incident: Domestic Violence Incident Resulting in a Standoff

Incident Summary:

On Saturday October 7, 2023, at 6:10 pm, we received multiple reports of a domestic disturbance in the area of the 700 block of Lakeville Circle. The reporting parties could hear a female screaming and items being thrown. Officers were familiar with the occupants as we had responded to the location twice in the last two weeks. Those calls for service resulted in the male resident, Kenneth Massucco (33, Petaluma) being arrested for felony domestic violence related charges, failing to let the female victim leave the residence, threatening to shoot officers, and resisting arrest. As a result, the Petaluma Police Department had sought an emergency protection order which was granted by a judge, prohibiting Massucco from being at the apartment or having contact with the victim.

Upon officers’ arrival, they could hear what sounded like the door being nailed shut from the inside of the apartment. Massucco came to the front window, told the officers he was alone in the apartment, and refused to exit. Officers could also hear the victim inside while Massucco moved away from the window and moved items around the apartment in what appeared to be an attempt to further barricade the doors. After numerous attempts were made to have both occupants exit the apartment, knowing the doors to the apartment were barricaded, considering the recent history of violence and threats from Massucco; the Petaluma Police Department’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) was summoned. Additionally, the Petaluma Police Department’s Investigations Team obtained a warrant for the arrest of Massucco for false imprisonment and violation of a domestic violence restraining order.

K9 Deputy finds approximately 23 pounds of m**hamphetamine during traffic stop.

On Wednesday, September 13th, at approximately 6:15 am, a Deputy conducted a traffic stop near Stage Gulch Rd and Watmaugh Road. During the traffic stop, the Deputy noticed several things that suggested the driver was involved in criminal activity. The Deputy and his K9 partner conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle for narcotics and alerted there was an odor of narcotics inside the car. The Deputy then searched the vehicle and located approximately 23 pounds of m**hamphetamine inside the car. Based on the large amount of drugs, Detectives from the Property/Narcotics unit were contacted and continued the investigation.

Detectives interviewed the suspect, and based on information the suspect provided, they wrote a search warrant for the suspect's residence in Vacaville, CA. With the assistance of Vacaville Police Department, the residence was secured. Detectives searched the residence and located the following:

β€’ Approximately one-half pound of m**hamphetamine
β€’ Approximately 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) of fentanyl
β€’ Approximately 1,500 fentanyl-laced fake M30 pills
β€’ Three loaded fi****ms (one stolen)
β€’ Additional ammunition

The suspect, 33-year-old Enrique Sanchez-Arias, was booked into Sonoma County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance and felony transportation of a controlled substance. Sanchez-Arias' original bail was $0, so detectives obtained a bail increase from a judge for $250,000.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Vacaville Police Department's Investigation and SWAT team for their assistance in this case.

Man arrested after burglarizing a home in Santa Rosa.

On August 11 around 11:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 5200 block of Faught Road, Santa Rosa. The resident had been home for about eight hours when he noticed his safe was missing and his dogs were agitated. He also reported there was a handgun in the safe.

Deputies searched the house and found a locked door. When they tried to open it, they heard noises coming from inside the room. They kicked the door down and saw a man later identified as Richard Robertson, Jr., 36, transient, climb out the window. The victim’s safe was on the floor.

Robertson, Jr. ran away and climbed a fence into a neighbor’s backyard despite deputies’ orders to stop. They advised they would use a K-9 to help apprehend him and he ultimately stopped. Deputies arrested Robertson, Jr. without further incident. They later found a crowbar and gloves and determined the gun was still in the safe.

Robertson, Jr. was booked into jail for felony burglary and misdemeanor possession of burglary tools. He’s being held on $50,000 bail.
