Little Debby is definitely dumping some rain on us now! We're monitoring the weather and taking it day by day for appointments.

We plan to be open Wednesday and Thursday with normal hours but this will be based on potential flooding. Our priority is your safety and the safety of our staff. If we do close the office, we'll call/ text each appointment immediately.

If you are a client and your pet is not a fan of this festive and loud holiday please be sure to stop by the clinic some time this week or the beginning of next week so we can get your fur baby some fear free meds! In recent months, we've experienced an increase in clients due to some area clinics closing and new homes being built nearby. We love caring for all our pets, both old and new, and are committed to providing the best care possible.

To ensure we continue to meet everyone's needs effectively, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding with the following:

🐾 Medication Refills: Please allow 24 hours for medication refills. You can request refills online through our webpage, via Petdesk, or by calling our office.

📅 Routine Visits: We are currently booked out two weeks in advance, so please schedule your routine visits early to secure your preferred time.

🩺 Sick Pets: We will always prioritize sick pets and keep a few openings each day for urgent cases.

We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional medical care with the same love and compassion we give to our own pets. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The blooming Tulip trees and Daffodils are gorgeous!! BUT they mean spring allergies are here. If your dog suffers from allergies and has been on Apoquel tabs or Cytopoint injections, NOW is the time to start back. Don't wait until you see the red raw feet or the ear infections!

Other Allergy Recommendations from the Doctors at Santee AH:
Recommendations for at home care for allergies:

Baby wipes of chin, feet, and facial folds daily at bedtime.
Antihistamines have little to no effect on our pet's allergies. Benadryl can help them sleep through the itchiness.
Bath with medicated/ disinfecting shampoo twice weekly.
Soothing conditioner after baths.
Foam dry shampoos can be used between bath times to soothe.
DUOXO Calm has a Great line of products.
Flush ear canals weekly and/or after baths with a gentle ear cleaner made for dogs.
Hills Derm Defense Diet OR Purina Pro Plan DRM diet or Sensitive Skin and Stomach diet.
Add 1000mg EPA daily (fish, flax, salmon, or krill oil)

Our goal is to reduce Apoquel, steroids, and antibiotics to only be needed during the bad times. But as with people, symptoms and severity can vary so treatments will vary as well.

Happy Holidays! We wish you all a merry and safe holiday season.
Our office will be Closed Monday, December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th.
Our lobby will be open from 9-2pm Wednesday through Friday to answer questions, refill medications, and for boarders.

Halloween is always fun at Santee AH!
This year we had our annual Pumpkin Carving Party at Drs Shuler's house where everyone was able to pick their pumpkin and make their own! So many masterpieces! We loved having Sweatman's BBQ cater the event again this year.
If you came in on Halloween with your pet, you might've noticed some dark Disney characters hanging around. Ursula (Nicole) and Gaston (Jill) were up to no good and Mad Madam Mim and Merlin couldn't stop fighting about who was the better vet,..Ooops, I mean wizard!
We wish you all a Haunted Halloween and look forward to seeing you in November, the month we give thanks to our awesome clients and patients!
