Due to the predicted winter weather and potentially hazardous road conditions, we will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. We will be answering phone calls for questions about pet health concerns and to schedule appointments for the following days. MedVet Mobile will remain open to see pet emergencies and can be reached at 251-706-0890.
We expect to reopen Wednesday morning as soon as road conditions allow for safe travel. We hope that everyone stays safe and warm during this rare snowy weather!

Kirby the Elf decided to make something pretty with this Pretty Litter. That’s not what it’s for Kirby, but good try!

Pretty Litter is a special type of litter that is designed to detect possible problems in your cat’s urine. The litter changes colors based on pH changes or traces of blood. It can’t be used to diagnose a bladder infection, but it can help to catch signs of an UTI earlier so your pet can be seen and treated by your vet more quickly. It can be used as your cat’s complete litter or as a thin layer on top of your cat’s usual litter.

Kirby the Elf thought he was ready to assist with a surgery, but we decided this was as close as we wanted him to be to a surgery!

Kirby the Elf found our bandaging materials and had fun practicing with his pup.

If your pet ever has an injury and you bandage it at home with an elastic self-adhesive wrap such as Vet Wrap or Coban, please make sure to not use this wrap tightly, especially on legs. The elastic nature of these wraps can cause restriction of blood flow and further damage the affected area. Put this layer on loosely, using only enough to keep the bandage in place. If any swelling occurs around the bandage, please remove it immediately.

Kirby the Elf thought he would help out by “baby sitting” the two new furry family members here at the Saraland Vet Clinic. He quickly decided they were more than he could handle!

Kirby the Elf enjoyed meeting Lemon the Leopard Gecko. Lemon looks like he’s telling Kirby what he wants for Christmas. It’s likely more of his favorite snack- mealworms!
Leopard Geckos are carnivorous, nocturnal reptiles native to areas of Africa and Asia. With proper care, they can be great pets.

Kirby the Elf added a few friends to our clinic cat’s water fountain. I don’t think Dewey, our cat, will be amused!

Recirculating water fountains (without the rubber ducks 🤣) can encourage cats to drink more water, which is a great way to help decrease the chance of urinary tract conditions.
