Our day to day goal is to provide the best temporary home, and loving care for our animals until they can find new forever homes. We are proud to say that we have placed over 3500 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1200 pets with their owne

rs, since 2001. Our staff and Board of Directors work toward educating the public about proper animal care including spaying and neutering, outdoor housing, providing proper sustenance, veterinarian care, and the many state and local laws and ordinances that a pet owner should be made aware of. We also assist local Law Enforcement with Animal Cruelty investigations and emergencies. The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on monetary donations from supporters to keep our doors open to helping the homeless animals in our area. Our volunteer Board of Directors are constantly planning fundraiser events, and we also have gained a lot of support from local businesses that assist us with fundraising. We gladly accept monetary donations of any amount, as every dollar helps us continue our mission to help the animals in our care. We also accept donations of pet food, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. If you are unable to adopt a pet, and can not always give a donation, consider donating your time to become a TLHS Volunteer! We enjoy having people come in and spend time helping us take care of our shelter animals each day. If you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, please contact us. Snack Pack has been with us 2 weeks today. As you can see, he’s in great spirits considering his broken leg. He’s handling everything like a champ especially using food and catnip to bribe him! He will still have upcoming vet visits to go to, so please consider donating to his medical needs!

Hey hoomans, it’s me, Hattie! I’ve been taste-testing the snow here at the shelter, and while it’s pretty good, I hear Raquette River Brewing’s drinks are way better! You should go try them tonight at Yappy Hour from 5-9 PM, where $1 from every drink sold helps pups like me find forever homes!

So go have a drink, grab some food, and know that every sip helps a pup like me get one step closer to a furrever home. Maybe even stop by the shelter sometime—I’d love to show you my snow-zoomies!

Ollie and Anna both need a new home! Here is what their owners have told us about Ollie:
Ollie is an unneutered male Chocolate Lab/Beagle mix that was born on 5/22/2021. He is all Lab! He loves to play, jump, run, and really likes the snow. He gets along well with other dogs and has always been with his older sister Anna. He is very, very friendly and will go with anyone and likes to ride in the car. He is smart dog and knows how to sit and shake, and is easy to teach. Ollie loves to play fetch, and is a happy dog. He is crate-trained, kid-friendly, and leash-trained.

Anna is a spayed female, blue-eyed Pug/Beagle mix and she is 9-years-old. She is a spunky and spry older lady that likes to bark at things, especially people she isn't sure of but once she knows you she quiets down. She's not a fan of the cold, but will endure the snow because she likes going for walks and enjoys car rides. She gets along well with Ollie, and they play together. Anna is not much into playing fetch with toys, but she is a great "sniffer", and likes to use her nose. She gets along great with kids, but it can take some time when she meets other dogs. She sometimes chases the cats but doesn't hurt them. She likes to perform tricks and knows how to spin and dance for treats.

COURTESY POST: Please note these cats are not at our humane society.

Monroe (on the left) is a 6yo neutered, tuxedo male. He is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. He prefers females and quiet. Harlow (on the right),is a 7 yr old spayed female. Fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. She's a lap cat but probably not right away to someone new. She is on a special diet for urinary tract. Both cats are bonded but separating them would be ok (I think) These cats are indoor only! If interested in these cats, please contact Paula at 518-727-1951.

Our boy Paws is spending the day at PetSmart-Plattsburgh, NY, and he’d love for you to stop by and say hello! He’s been with us at Tri-Lakes Humane Society for 70 days, patiently waiting for his perfect family. We know his person is out there—maybe it’s you?

Paws is a total sweetheart, a professional biscuit-maker, and a resilient guy—he’s also diabetic, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! He’s ready to leave shelter life behind and curl up in a home of his own—preferably one with a cozy spot for naps and a human to spoil him.

A huge thank you to PetSmart for donating supplies for our shelter pets—your generosity helps animals like Paws while they wait for their second chance.

Stop by and meet him—he’s been practicing his biscuits, but what he really wants is someone to knead! 🐾

He will require weekly trips to the vet to make sure he is healing properly. If you would like to donate to his medical care, Mr. Pack would certainly appreciate it! Our Story

Saving Little Lives since 1942. The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a no-kill, private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to advocate for the humane treatment of animals and provide care and shelter for abandoned, stray, homeless and unwanted companion animals in need. We work to reunite lost pets with their owners and educate the public about proper animal care, animal laws, and spaying/neutering pets to reduce overpopulation. New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Shelter/Rescue Registration #RR036

We are proud to say that we have placed over 3,600 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1,300 pets with their owners, since 2003.

The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 Northern New York State counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of our community. There are many ways to support our mission and the animals in our care. If you are unable to donate or adopt, consider giving your time as a TLHS Volunteer! We enjoy having people come in to spend time with the animals and helping us provide loving daily care to the animals while they wait for a new home.
