NYS Shelter/Rescue Registration The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a private, No-Kill, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our day to day goal is to provide the best temporary home, and loving care for our animals until they can find new forever homes. We are proud to say that we have placed over 3500 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1200 pets with their owne

Our staff and Board of Directors work toward educating the public about proper animal care including spaying and neutering, outdoor housing, providing proper sustenance, veterinarian care, and the many state and local laws and ordinances that a pet owner should be made aware of. We also assist local Law Enforcement with Animal Cruelty investigations and emergencies. The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on monetary donations from supporters to keep our doors open to helping the homeless animals in our area. Our volunteer Board of Directors are constantly planning fundraiser events, and we also have gained a lot of support from local businesses that assist us with fundraising. We gladly accept monetary donations of any amount, as every dollar helps us continue our mission to help the animals in our care. We also accept donations of pet food, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. If you are unable to adopt a pet, and can not always give a donation, consider donating your time to become a TLHS Volunteer! The answer to today's guess the shelter pet was Popeye! Our little guy is currently living the flashlight life after his procedure and is recovering well. Thank you to everyone who donated toward his care. He is acting like a normal crazy kitten jumping all around and has learned to use his cone as a giant scoop for things he wants. Popeye is on hold for adoption and is ready to start his new life!

LOOSE DOG REPORT
We had a call this morning around 9:20 am that a Cattle Dog type dog with a leash attached ran across State Route 3 from County Route 60 (Road to Onchiota) in Vermontville. The dog ran into the woods and didn’t come back out. Our DCO drove out and searched the area without finding the dog. We haven’t heard from anyone else that has seen the dog, or anyone missing the dog yet; so we hope it was found or returned home. Please spread the word in case someone in that area is still looking for a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler type dog. If you see this dog please call our office at 518-891-0017.

🐾✨ Remember Joey, our sweet 10.5-year-old chihuahua? Well, Joey has a new name—Napoleon! 🐶💕
Napoleon and his owner, Kirk, stopped by a few days ago to brighten our day and share some love with the shelter staff. Seeing our former residents thriving in their new homes is the best feeling! Napoleon now enjoys car rides and butt scratches, and we couldn't be happier for him. 🚗❤️

The answer to guess the shelter pet was Oreo! Oreo is a sweet and spicy girl who is used to being an only pet to a single owner. She likes her one person and loves treats, but strangers can freak her out. She likes attention on her terms and loves to play. Oreo is currently available for adoption!

What’s better than 1 black cat, but two!!! These handsome brothers are very sweet and waiting for their forever home! Odin and Sass are brothers so they are very attached to each other. Where ever one is, the other is right behind. Odin and Sass are very playful and outgoing but can be a little nervous in new situations. They need someone with patience and that will allow them to take their time coming out of their shells. If you are looking for twice the good luck, these boys may be perfect for you!

Hi friends! 🐾 I’m still super sleepy after my big day out at PetSmart-Plattsburgh, NY last Friday. I got lots of treats and pets, but I’m still waiting for my forever home at Tri-Lakes Humane Society. I’ve been here 144 days now, and at 13 and a half years old, I’d love it if my new humans could come find me.

You can help me and my friends by joining our fundraiser on Saturday, August 3rd! We’ll be doing some pawsome pulp painting. It’s a fun new experience, and all the proceeds go to support the animals like me, Hillary, here at TLHS. 🐶❤️🐱

Luke’s still dreaming that the incredible Hinder concert was put on just for him, but we want to make sure he knows it was for all his shelter buddies too! We are learning more about her so we are unsure how she feels about dogs right now but she doesn’t seem to mind cats. Happy adoption update! ❤️ SCARLETT was with us at the shelter for over 300 days. This shy lady was very special, but it took her a while to warm up to strangers. Lots of practice at the shelter helped to make introductions easier, but she still had a hard time making a connection. But then her new family came in and just got exactly who SCARLETT is. They were patient and slow and SCARLETT seemed to sense that her family had finally found her. We couldn’t be happier to see a match with so much love! Happy tails, SCARLETT🥳 Adoption looks good on you!

UPDATE: Adopted MAUI is looking for someone who enjoys the soothing sound of purrs and baking. As you can see, MAUI is quite experienced when it comes to making biscuits. 😹 MAUI has many great qualities. She has lived with other cats and was even a momma, but has happily put her motherly duties in the past. MAUI is sweet and playful, but doesn’t enjoy being held. Come to the shelter to meet MAUI!
