NYS Shelter/Rescue Registration The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a private, No-Kill, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our day to day goal is to provide the best temporary home, and loving care for our animals until they can find new forever homes. We are proud to say that we have placed over 3500 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1200 pets with their owne

rs, since 2001. Our staff and Board of Directors work toward educating the public about proper animal care including spaying and neutering, outdoor housing, providing proper sustenance, veterinarian care, and the many state and local laws and ordinances that a pet owner should be made aware of. We also assist local Law Enforcement with Animal Cruelty investigations and emergencies. The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on monetary donations from supporters to keep our doors open to helping the homeless animals in our area. Our volunteer Board of Directors are constantly planning fundraiser events, and we also have gained a lot of support from local businesses that assist us with fundraising. We gladly accept monetary donations of any amount, as every dollar helps us continue our mission to help the animals in our care. We also accept donations of pet food, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. If you are unable to adopt a pet, and can not always give a donation, consider donating your time to become a TLHS Volunteer! We enjoy having people come in and spend time helping us take care of our shelter animals each day. If you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, please contact us. The answer to today's guess the shelter pet was Popeye! Our little guy is currently living the flashlight life after his procedure and is recovering well. Thank you to everyone who donated toward his care. He is acting like a normal crazy kitten jumping all around and has learned to use his cone as a giant scoop for things he wants. Popeye is on hold for adoption and is ready to start his new life!

LOOSE DOG REPORT
We had a call this morning around 9:20 am that a Cattle Dog type dog with a leash attached ran across State Route 3 from County Route 60 (Road to Onchiota) in Vermontville. The dog ran into the woods and didnā€™t come back out. Our DCO drove out and searched the area without finding the dog. We havenā€™t heard from anyone else that has seen the dog, or anyone missing the dog yet; so we hope it was found or returned home. Please spread the word in case someone in that area is still looking for a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler type dog. If you see this dog please call our office at 518-891-0017.

Napoleon and his owner, Kirk, stopped by a few days ago to brighten our day and share some love with the shelter staff. Seeing our former residents thriving in their new homes is the best feeling! Napoleon now enjoys car rides and butt scratches, and we couldn't be happier for him. šŸš—ā¤ļø
A huge thank you to Kirk for giving Napoleon the loving home he deserves. Weā€™d love to see how your rescues are doing too! Share your latest updates and pictures in the comments below. šŸ”šŸ“ø

Whatā€™s better than 1 black cat, but two!!! These handsome brothers are very sweet and waiting for their forever home! Odin and Sass are brothers so they are very attached to each other. Where ever one is, the other is right behind. Odin and Sass are very playful and outgoing but can be a little nervous in new situations. They need someone with patience and that will allow them to take their time coming out of their shells. If you are looking for twice the good luck, these boys may be perfect for you!

Hi friends! šŸ¾ Iā€™m still super sleepy after my big day out at PetSmart-Plattsburgh, NY last Friday. I got lots of treats and pets, but Iā€™m still waiting for my forever home at Tri-Lakes Humane Society. Iā€™ve been here 144 days now, and at 13 and a half years old, Iā€™d love it if my new humans could come find me.

You can help me and my friends by joining our fundraiser on Saturday, August 3rd! Weā€™ll be doing some pawsome pulp painting. Itā€™s a fun new experience, and all the proceeds go to support the animals like me, Hillary, here at TLHS. šŸ¶ā¤ļøšŸ±

Lukeā€™s still dreaming that the incredible Hinder concert was put on just for him, but we want to make sure he knows it was for all his shelter buddies too! A massive thank you to Hinder and Mountain View Productions for their amazing support and for organizing such a fantastic event. Your generosity means so much to us at Tri-Lakes Humane Society. The funds raised will go directly toward providing food, medical care, and love for all our furry friends, keeping their tails wagging and their paws tapping. šŸ¾ā¤ļøšŸŽ¶
P.S. Luke is still available for adoption and well on his way to stardomā€”come meet him and see why heā€™s the true rockstar of the shelter! šŸŒŸ

This sweet girl is Tawny! Sheā€™s a young spayed female that has lots of energy and cuddles to give. We are learning more about her so we are unsure how she feels about dogs right now but she doesnā€™t seem to mind cats. For more information on Tawny, give us a call at 518-891-0017 or stop in to meet her today!

Our Story

Saving Little Lives since 1942. The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a no-kill, private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to advocate for the humane treatment of animals and provide care and shelter for abandoned, stray, homeless and unwanted companion animals in need. We work to reunite lost pets with their owners and educate the public about proper animal care, animal laws, and spaying/neutering pets to reduce overpopulation. New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Shelter/Rescue Registration #RR036

We are proud to say that we have placed over 3,600 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1,300 pets with their owners, since 2003.

The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 Northern New York State counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of our community. There are many ways to support our mission and the animals in our care. If you are unable to donate or adopt, consider giving your time as a TLHS Volunteer! We enjoy having people come in to spend time with the animals and helping us provide loving daily care to the animals while they wait for a new home.
