Seems like there's a new, heated debate that desensitization and classical conditioning don't work.

Here's the thing, though.

Claiming classical conditioning doesn't work is like claiming driving doesn't get you to your destination.

What we really mean is that the route we took or the way we drove didn't get us to where we wanted to go.

Driving works, but using the wrong directions or missing turns will keep us from arriving.

Sometimes roads are blocked, there's bad weather, or the car breaks down.

Driving still works.

I drove 33 hours round trip to pick up this guy to training for a client. He is from VA and is probably the best puppy I have worked with. He will be with me for 6 months and then continue training with his mom and with me coaching. At 2 he will be used for counter balance and stability, possibly some guiding as her sight is waning, and various other tasks to help her with daily life. I am so excited to be a part of this journey!

These guys did a great job over the past 6 weeks! Rudy the chihuahua was super nervous outside and reactive to dogs, people and noises. With guidance, patience and consistent training Rudy is enjoying walks, learning to explore outside instead of freak out and even had a great time out and about on an outing in Lakewood Ranch! 🤩

Last day with these 2! Titus has spent his training time working on leash walking, not picking up everything his little frenchy mouth can touch and proper greetings of people and dogs. And he and his mom, Wendy are rockstars! Wendy has worked hard on her and Titus's skills and they made a successful trip out in public past dogs and lots of people in really close encounters. I can't wait to see their future adventures together! 🐾🐾🐾
