Some pets come to MCAS at such an elderly age or with medical conditions which prevent them from the traditional adoption and spending many years with a family. For these pets, we have a “fospice”, or foster-hospice, option which allows them to spend their remaining time with a loving family in a home while they continue to receive medical supervision from MCAS.
Edith is a 17 year-old cat who arrived to MCAS infested with fleas. She had so many all over her body that after she was deloused, she required a blood transfusion. She is better now, and incredibly sweet and social, but due to her age, we are recommending her for a fospice home. This way she will continue to receive medical supervision from our staff as she advances in age.
Weebles is 12 years-old with a neurological disorder and elevated liver values, which she is receiving medication for. Her disorder makes her unsteady on her feet, but it doesn't stop this sweet girl from being super-affectionate. Her previous owner declawed her front paws.
We want to see both of these “Golden Girls” enjoy their lives in loving homes. If you are interested in become a fospice parent for Edith or Weebles, please fill out the application at https://bit.ly/3cvcvix and email [email protected]. Fospice pets receive all supplies and food, medications, and medical supervision and care from MCAS.
