The flamingos are back home. They (and the other animals) are doing well after the storm. We're making significant progress each day on clean up. We can't wait to welcome everyone back. If you had bookings while we were closed before the storm(s) or until we reopen, please know your admission tickets are valid 1 year from date of purchase. Thank you for everyone's prayers and good wishes. We sincerely appreciate them. We are hopeful that everyone in our area is able to get back to normal soon. Hurricane Milton came over with a vengeance and made landfall about 10 miles South of us. Fortunately the storm surge wasn't as bad as predicted. All of our staff, animals and buildings survived. However, there is a lot of debris to clear and repairs to make. And, we are still without power. It will take some time to reopen but we will do so as soon as possible. We will keep you posted.

For those wishing to help, we will post more information on how to do that in the coming days.

🌀WEATHER UPDATE:

Hi everyone. As we are all aware, Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on our coast this week. In preparation for the impact, we have adjusted hours for the next few days. As of now, Sarasota Jungle Gardens is closed through Thursday. We will assess any damage sustained when the storm clears and will provide an update about a reopening date at that time.

As always we encourage everyone to pay attention to local news updates about the storm and take the necessary precautions to stay safe. Our entire team is so appreciative of your support during these times. If there are any questions, please let us know.

Porcupine Pop Quiz! 🤔

What's with those sharp quills on their bodies? You may have heard that porcupines can shoot these at enemies. However, that's just an old wives tale. Their quills simply release from their body when touced by a predator. But when not threatened a porcupine will keep them laying flat on their back. Now you know. 😉

As you already know, our team has been working diligently to get the park reopen to you, our amazing guests. 🌀 WEATHER UPDATE:

As we prepare for Hurricane Helene's impact on our coast, we have decided to adjust this week's hours for the safety of our guests, animals and staff. We will be closing the park at noon (12pm) this afternoon and will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, September 26. Once the storm has cleared our area and we're able to assess the park, a decision on future hours of operation will be made and posted to our social media channels. From our entire staff, we appreciate your understanding and we ask that you take all necessary precautions in preparation for the upcoming storm.

Have you met Sammy yet? Scarlet Macaws, like Sammy, are more than just gorgeous colorful feathers, they are very intelligent birds whose intelligence can be compared to that of a young toddler.
