Happy HOWL-ween! Keep the spooky fun for the humans and the scary far away from your pets! Three essential tips to keep your pets safe this Halloween:

🍫 No candy for pets! Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets. Keep all goodies out of reach - and watch those sneaky paws!
👻 Costume caution! Not all pets love dressing up. If they do, make sure costumes fit comfortably without restricting movement or breathing. Safety over style!
🏡 Stress-free zone! Trick-or-treaters and doorbells can overwhelm pets. Set up a cozy, quiet space where they can relax, and make sure they don’t dash out the door.

As a reminder, our partner, UrgentVet, is open late should your pet need care after-hours! Monday-Friday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Easily save your spot online at www.UrgentVet.com!

Yenko came in to see Dr. Marcie today for a laceration on his paw. After running around in the yard, he came back with a cut 😢

A few staples (and one cone) later, he was on his way!

He was a very brave boy, good job Yenko!

Our hospital is closed today due to Hurricane Milton, and we plan to re-open on Friday, October 11 if we are able to. Please make sure you have the following information handy:

• Your pet’s medical records and vaccine history.
• We recommend having a supply of pet’s medications, as well as food and water on hand.
• If your pet has a microchip, be sure to have the microchip number and registry contact information.
• A list of local shelters and/or hotels that accommodate pets.

In case of a pet emergency, please visit the nearest veterinary emergency center near you. Check our social media for the latest news and updates from us. Be safe everyone!

We are thinking about all of our clients and patients as we prepare for Hurricane Milton. We are open today, Tuesday 10/8 until 12pm for sick appointments. If you need food or prescriptions filled, please give us a call as soon as possible.

Also we have a few extra dog crates and cat carriers if anyone needs them, just let us know.

We will post again as soon as we reopen. We hope everyone stays safe.

Lakewood Ranch Veterinary Medical Center (941-739-1800) is planning to stay open with generators for urgent needs.
