How many fridges of Phyto do we have? Here’s one that’s ready for tomorrow. Strains left to harvest in 6 hours are Rhodomonas lens, Rhodomonas Salina, isochrysis galbana, t-isochrysis lutea and Thalassiosira weissfloggii. Tomorrow will be a much smoother day than the previous 3 Mondays. 9 carboys are already reset for the week. All I do is sleep, eat, harvest Phyto, feed pods, feed rotifers and repeat these days.

It’s been 1 year since the launch of the website for phytoplankton, rotifers and pods. While the company has been around since 2014. We took the website down in 2018. Last summer the launch of rlutah was born at the end of June. We are calling it our 1 year anniversary for phytoplankton, rotifers and pods.

To celebrate, we are doing reward credits to 1 winner each week. There will be other deals coming.

First drawing will be on Friday July 5th. Each week in July there will be one grand prize winner kip that will get their entire order amount credited to their rewards account. Plus 2 other lucky recipients will win a $25 rewards credit each week. Every retail order will be entered automatically each week. If your order ships by Wednesday evening you will be entered for the week’s drawing on Thursday. If your order ships CC on Thursday, you’ll be entered into the following week’s drawing. For this week we start at order 1756. We will use a random number selector and put all retail orders in the drawing. Winners will be emailed after the drawing and notified of the amount they won.

Ever wondered what the difference is between our phytoplankton selection? Feeding strains are grown in 6.5 gallon glass carboys, taken to maximum density, refrigerated and cold before bottling and have to remain cold. Our phytoplankton for culturing is grown in 1 gallon glass jars that can be sanitized better and are usually shipped before hitting peak density, this is critical for Rhodomonas species. Culturing orders are bottled at the end of the day, aren’t refrigerated before leaving and are packed with ice to keep cool during transit. This is important on isochrysis galbana as it causes less stress, resulting in a better starter for you.

How long will this shipment last? Ideally 6-8 weeks, here’s to another 150 orders a month. Plus new storage containers for each strain before getting mixed into our phytoblend. New blends are coming and lots of exciting things are around the corner.

Every week when I harvest Nanno and Chlorella strains, I’m always tempted to send out more of these two than others. They are always the darkest and have the most cells per ml. Strains like isochrysis, t iso, Rhodomonas lighten the overall color and density of our phytoblends. We use diatom strains to boost the number of cells per ml back up.

When I worked for a big box retailer I never understood how items can fluctuate so much on a given month. Even with a LFS supply levels never fluctuated a lot, weekly deliveries from suppliers. With an online store, I can’t get my stock levels consistent for a 2.5-3 month order period. Here’s another 432, 16 ounce bottles can they last 6 weeks?
