We are so excited for our community & our friends at Moreau Animal Clinic on their big move!! 👏👏👏

With our new building opening Wednesday, January 15th, a new service is going to be provided to our community. Urgent Care!

This service will act similarly to a human urgent care facility. You may call ahead, or walk in. You do not need to be an existing client of Moreau Animal Clinic to utlilize this service. Regardless, cases will be assessed by the attending veterinarian and seen in order of urgency.

Please be advised, similarly to a human urgent care, depending on the severity of your pet's condition, you may be directed immediately or transferred to a 24 hour hospital. Anything considered critical should bypass our urgent care and go straight to a 24 hour emergency hospital.

Our urgent care hours will be Monday through Friday 8am-6pm. WE DO NOT have overnight staff or weekend hours.

***Prices for exams and services within urgent care will be different than our general practice***
We will provide an estimate for any treatment and diagnostics necessary for your pet based on the veterinarian's initial exam. We will also be offering TWO forms of payment plans. CareCredit and AllPet. You may apply prior to arrival online, or within the office. Payment is still expected at time services are rendered. We will continue to strive to be as cost effective as possible.

Please note, existing clients of Moreau Animal Clinic are still able to book "problem exams" in advance with our general practice. However, if you call for a same day appointment and we are completely booked on the general practice side, you will be referred to our urgent care department if it is something you feel needs to be addressed that day.

Our team appreciates everyone's patience during this big transition for our practice. We will continue to provide the utmost quality care for the animals in our community. If you have any questions at all about any changes or hospital policies, please feel free to reach out to the office manager or practice owners within normal business hours.

We are so lucky to be apart of this incredible program. You may have heard us talk about the Canine Training Program at our local corrections facility before. Yesterday we graduated 5 amazing dogs & 13 handlers from our 4th cycle of this program!! 🖤

Fundraiser Pack Walk for Hannah of Hoof & Hound Therapy!!

As most of you now know, K9 Evolution is teaming up with K9 Coach to raise money for our friend who has had to be in the hospital very suddenly over the last few weeks. In an effort to take away some of the financial stress, we have organized this pack walk fundraiser!

Pack Walk Details:

The walk is at Moreau Lake State Park on May 8th from 6:30 - 7:30pm. The cost to attend is $25 and all the money we raise is going straight to Hannah.

This walk is open to:
* Current & past clients of; K9 Evolution, K9 Coach Dana, North Country Paws for Obedience & Bri Rabine. We do ask that friendly, leash trained dogs only accompany their humans.

* Members of the public who want to support Hannah are more than welcome to join us! Our only request is to kindly leave your pup at home and just bring yourselves to the walk.

Choosing a dog just because of the way they look.

We wouldn’t choose a partner or make a commitment to sharing our lives with someone based purely on the way they look – (I suppose there could be exceptions in some cases!)

We would first really get to know them, what kind of personality they have and who they really are before making that sort of commitment.

Yet people continue to choose dogs just because of the way they look.

Maybe they saw a dog like that in a movie that they enjoyed or maybe they just really like the way they look, without having any understanding or thought to learn about what that particular breed was selectively bred to do and what behaviour might be expected.

The way a dog behaves is not always specific to the breed. Dogs are individuals, with their own unique personality and their behaviour is shaped not only by genetics, but by specific life and learning experiences and environment, but problems can happen when the traits of that breed and their specific needs are not taken into account.

Some breeds may just simply not be compatible with a particular person or family’s needs, lifestyle, environment or expectations.

Is it fair or ethical to need to suppress, train out or even punish breed specific tendencies, calling them behaviour problems, when we hold a dog in a captive environment that is unsuitable for them.

First research the breed and learn all you can about potential traits and what to expect before making that choice.
