Dr. Anderson was born and raised in Montana. He attended Utah State University for undergraduate training and veterinary school at Oklahoma State University. He stayed at OSU for specialty training in Theriogenology (animal reproduction) where he studied mare follicular pharmacodynamics and mare contraceptive mechanisms in wild horses.

“During my residency program I had two of the best mentors for equine theriogenology, Dr. Candace Lyman (now at Auburn University) and Dr. Reed Holyoak (Oklahoma State University-CVM). They taught me the science behind advanced equine reproduction, specifically the process of Transvaginal Aspiration (TVA) for Intracytoplasmic S***m Injection (ICSI). They made the science become real to me and helped me realize the excitement that comes with participating in the miracle of reproduction. The process of TVA for ICSI allows you to see every step, from oocyte to embryo and on to a live foal; it is so fun. I decided to focus on TVAs and ICSI because I love the challenge. Not everyone wants to palpate mares all day and even fewer want to take on the task of aspirating a mare. The challenge drives my competitive nature and makes me excited to continually improve the process. I love it!”

 After leaving Oklahoma, he worked at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in St. Anthony, Idaho. Where he practiced for 2 years. He then moved to Utah to practice at South Valley Equine where he has been since 2022

 He and his wife Whitney are now enjoying raising their 3 children (Cruiz, Tenley, and Joey) in Utah. Dr. Anderson spends his free time team roping, hunting and fishing, and he loves football (GO POKES!) and basketball.

✨Levi grew up in Huntsville, Utah and later moved to Wyoming where he resides now. Levi grew up riding horses from a young age and has been working with them through training and ranching for over 20 years. He has been building saddles and custom leather tack for over 15 years.

This has brought him many opportunities to expand his horsemanship and connections in the industry. This has led him to a special interest and appreciation in the equine reproductive industry and working with high quality equine athletes.

In his free time, Levi enjoys team roping and he is always looking for new things to try.

✨Malia was born and raised in Utah. She started working in veterinary medicine, specifically equine reproduction, at South Valley Equine in 2023. Malia’s interest with the TVA and ICSI program has shaped her career focus.

“I’m captivated by its potential to fulfill clients’ dreams and manage their aspirations. Mentorship under Dr. Anderson and other technicians has been integral for me. I am very intrigued by the convergence of science and nature in realizing people’s dreams.”

In her free time, Malia enjoys taking care of her own horses, Elvis, Johnny, Dolly, and Reba and competes in barrels in the fall.

✨Bre was born and raised in Utah. She has been in the veterinary field since 2017. She worked in a small animal clinic for four years and then did a semester abroad in Montenegro. She then joined South Valley Equine where she has been since 2021. She has been working with Dr. Anderson since he joined in 2022.

“I find the whole TVA/ICSI process to be fascinating. I love seeing every step, from oocyte to the foals on the ground that were born through our program. It is amazing. Working with Dr. Anderson, his dedication is contagious. As a mentor he has taught me to care about every mare individually.”

In her free time, Bre enjoys hiking, camping, wakeboarding, and traveling.

Let’s talk about supplements! A big factor of fertility is nutrition. Owners should start preparing their mares and stallions for breeding season 45-60 days before it starts.
