ADOPTION PENDING

BUTCH: 1 Year-Old Male Yellow Lab, Neutered. 62 lbs.

Background:
Butch was surrendered by his family as he was too much for them to handle. The couple, in their 70's, admitted that Butch needed a younger family to care for him. He was acquired through a breeder at 8 weeks. He has a lot of energy, very strong on leash. The family lives on a few acres and let him roam the securely fenced property the entire day. Was crated in the garage overnight.

From the shelter:
We have put Butch around other dogs in the shelter and though he doesn’t have a lot of social skills he does want to play. Haven’t seen any aggression, great with the staff.

What Butch's Foster Says: Butch walks on a leash, knows basic commands. Gets along well with other dogs once properly introduced. Is still a puppy, so he will get bouncy at times, but quickly quiets down. He would be an awesome addition to any family with kids 7+. Is very social, loves to play catch, ride in the car. Well-mannered. He has a soft mouth, takes treats gently, sleeps on his bed through the night. He’s a love bug, thrives on attention.

What Lab Rescue Rep Says: Another GGLRR rescue rep received a call to evaluate a Butch at the shelter. Here's what she reported:

"I met an adorable, friendly, attention seeking puppy. Butch has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. He’s treat motivated, has a soft mouth, is housebroken, sleeps through the night on his dog bed, adverse to being in the crate. Loves to fetch, good leash manners. Can get excited when seeing other dogs on walks/needs proper intros. Likes to steal items, i.e. shoes, play keep away. Can be a jumper. No resource guarding."

Kids in the home should be 7+ due to excitability. No cats in the home.

GGLRR is looking for an adopter who has experience raising a young dog and the time to devote to this deserving boy.

Medical: Neutered, Heartworm neg, updated on vax, chipped.
