As the temperatures continue to drop your outdoor feline friends will need a safe and warm place to escape the cold. Ideally all pets should be brought indoors if the temperature dips below 40 degrees fahrenheit. If you are unable to bring them inside here are some suggestions from Alley Cat Allies, for constructing your own shelter or acquiring a ready-made one.

We know decorating the house, having family over, and enjoying a holiday meal adds to the holiday fun, but there are things to watch for that can endanger your pet. Check out the graphic below for the 4 things to make sure your pet doesn’t get into this holiday season. If you think your pet has ingested anything, or chewed on any christmas lights, then give us a call at ###-###-###X so we can get them seen as soon as possible (if you are closed during the holidays it would be good to put the local ER that you refer patients too).

Spaying and neutering your pets is essential for their health and well-being. It helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces the risk of certain cancers, and can improve behavior. Scratching is a natural behavior for our feline friends but where they choose to scratch can be frustrating. While surgery can seem like the only option there are some alternatives you can try to decrease the less desirable behaviors.

Alternatives:
-Keeping the nails trimmed
-Applying nail caps (such as soft paws)
-Making scratching posts available and attractive by placing catnip or treats around them
-Covering corners of furniture with plastic, aluminum foil or sticky tape temporarily

On this Veterans Day, we honor not only the heroes in uniform but also the four-legged companions who served alongside them. Military working dogs have provided loyalty, protection, and service in times of need, just as you have. Their bond with service members is a testament to the strength and courage found in all who serve.

As a veterinary practice dedicated to the well-being of animals, we understand the special role that pets play in the lives of veterans and their families. Whether they offer companionship, emotional support, or assistance, these pets are true heroes in their own right.

To all who have served, and to those who continue to serve, thank you. Your service will never be forgotten. We are honored to serve you and your pets with the same dedication and care that you have shown to our nation.
