West Georgia Rabbit Club Summer Sunshine Show, Carrollton, Ga. June 8, 2024. was an excellent, smoothly run event. I can't say the same for our journey there.

My good friend Tammy Ledger from Caroncro, LA. came over on Thursday to go with me for her first Rabbit Show outside of Louisiana and ran into traffic problems so bad it turned her 3+ hr trip into near 7 hrs, including having to drive on top of a Levee road through the Atchafalaya Swamp, with her not arriving until after 10:30pm.

Everything started well Friday morning as we headed to Georgia until the rear dually tires on my RV motorhome had a blow out at 70 mph on I-65 billowing blue smoke with the loudest bang I've ever heard. Our 5 1/2 hour trip turned into 12+ hours as we searched for road side assistance and eventually replaced all 6 tires for $2,000.

We finally arrived at Carrollton with mear minutes to check in Friday night and enough time to feed & water before the building closed.

The Show went great Saturday. Definitely got a couple of "Legs" towards Grand Champion. Tammy picked up a pair of SS from my dear friend Retired Army Colonel DawnLee Perkins Walton. Bo and Melissa Kmetz out did themselves at our traditional after show cookout, with wonderful food and a dessert by Tammy.

Louisiana Rabbit Breeders Association Memorial Day Weekend Show May 24/25, 2024 Alexandria, LA. is one of my favorites.

Definitely gained a few "Legs". Polar Ice received her Senior Leg to become Grand Champion. Every single adult Lionhead in our Rabbitry is now Grand Champion.

On a final note: being a holiday weekend myself and many other people were stuck in traffic for hours trying to get to the show on Friday. The show ran long on Saturday and I ended up getting home at 2:30am. But by the grace of God one of our fellow show member and Netherland Dwarf friends Peyton Palmer is Okay, after totaling her car in an accident Friday while at the show. Always pray safe travels.

Update: I've never named a baby this young, but I've never been bitten by a baby his young either - introducing - Ramsey Creek's Vlad The Impaler.

This little Britannia Petite is going to give me a Heart Attack or me him.... He was so sweet and held every day as a tiny baby.

But now that he has figured out he has Legs he has become very talented at using them. (3 1/2 weeks old) He also is very vocal and likes to scream.

Additionally, he likes to climb up the sides of his cage and across the top. Watch movie Legion - think old lady in dinner...

To top everything off, he got loose in my huge 30'x45' barn and I spent the next 7 hours till past midnight to catch him.

Lastly, being so small I've had to place hardware cloth wire across the top of their cage as to prevent him escape out.

Lordy, I love these tiny demons, someone save me I must be nuts.... 🤣

Hop Till You Drop - Fluffy Butt Rabbit Club Show - April 18/19, 2024 was an outstanding event. They Hosted (7) National Breed Shows, numerous Specialty Shows, along with a triple Show.

Had the incredible honor of writing and showing with ARBA's oldest current Show Judge Honorable Don Havlicek. Age 87.

Ramsey Creek Rabbitry is excited to announce our first Britannia Petite kits were finally born to ES3 aka Eric our Rew Buck.

MH397 aka Rebel our Sable Martin doe has a beautiful litter of 4.

It's amazing how much hair the mom managed to pull and I was surprised how large the babies were considering the tiny size of the parent.

Exciting and exhausting trip to NALRC Lionhead Nationals in Decatur, Illinois April 5th & 6th, 2024. Approximately 1,485 miles round-trip, up on Thursday, back on Sunday.

Our Lionheads were busy, started off Friday night with a Best Mane Class followed by a Specialty Show then Open Show A. (6:00pm - 12:15am)

Saturday started with our National Show, then the Fur Class, followed by the Statler Event then Open Show C and D. Our Lions were tired by the end of it all. (8:00am - 6:00pm)

Immediately afterwards we enjoyed our NALRC banquet at the Decatur Club. Good food, great evening, excited all donated baskets sold well for the fundraiser with our District 6 basket created by Wendy Robinette - Louisiana, Karen Sterrett - Mississippi, Amber Fry - Tennessee sold the highest for the night at $400.

As for my personal Show results, I need to wait for the Official Exhibitors Reports to be certain. Keep in mind there were I believe approximately 378 entries in OPEN. However I know the following:

Nationals - Best White Fur - Ramsey Creek's Tinker Bell.

Nationals - 5th Rew Senior Doe - Ramsey Creek's Tinker Bell.

Nationals - 5th Rew Senior Buck - Autumn Breeze Ricky Ricardo.

Highlight of my weekend was acquiring a new really sweet Britannia Petite Black Otter Doe Moon and Stars Riley from Lisa Ashby of Iowa. I believe She placed BOB, BOV and BOSV over the weekend. I'm so excited Lisa allowed her to join my herd.

Happy to return (2) rabbits to their original breeders and pick up (4) more to bring south from Melissa Kmetz for Jared.

Lastly, I understand people were tired, stressed out, traveled far, etc... I get it. But the level of rudeness reached a point I seriously considered scratching my entries and leaving. There was no reason not to be kind and polite. I spent hours volunteering at the NALRC table only to be treated like dirt. Let it be known, the banquet which was to be family friendly and alcohol free was not.

Almost all Official Exhibitors Reports have been received for the past 4 Shows, still waiting for 1 more Specialty Show Report. I'm buried under a mountain of Legs towards Grand Champion. This is a good thing.... lost count at 40 as some are on top of each other. There's also a small collection of Registration and Grand Champion Certificates in the pile as well.

When it rains it pours, this was a Hurricane, as everything arrived practically at the same time or while I was out of town at shows. But this is the good type of Hurricane that I'd take any day. Feeling Blessed to see success in our Breeding Program, always remembering that not every Show goes well.

Absolutely love going to the Tiny Town/LRBA State Meeting Double Show in DeRidder, Louisiana March 8/9, 2024. This Show is beautifully run by Cheryl Moyers, I'm happy to jump in to help her every year.
I have such fond memories of DeRidder as 50+ years ago my College roommate was from here. I'd often go home with her for a weekend, having fun and lasting stories to tell.
One of the highlights of the weekend was being treated out to dinner with Wendy Robinette and trying my very first Margarita at almost 70 years of age. Along with eating a delicious fried Avocado ball stuffed with cheese and beef. Thank you my friend.
Keeping it real.... not ever Show goes your way. I'm proud to support and cheer for my friends as they win top placements. Congratulations to Wendy Robinette's daughter Payton Cunningham for winning a clean sweep in TTRC/LRBA with her beautiful Lionheads and Cheryl Moyers with her Britannia Petites.

Day 2 of Dalton Triple Show, Dalton, Georgia, March 3, 2024. Exciting day filled with not one but two Lionhead Specialty Shows hosted by LALRC - Lower Appalachian Lionhead Rabbit Club. Our lions were tired by the end of the weekend after showing (5) times and they know how to open Coops doors.... so it was like we became Zoo Keepers trying to contain escaping wild animals. 🤣

It was a very busy weekend at the Dalton, Georgia shows. But... you may not be aware, if your lucky enough to have your rabbit place in one of the two top positions: BOB Best of Breed or BOSB Best of Opposite Breed.... the Judge's are so kind and take a pictures with you & your winning rabbit. However, rabbits don't always cooperate, especially if their tired, excited, young or spicy.

The following group of pictures are from Georgia State Convention Rabbit Show 1/27/24 Dalton, Georgia. Show B - Judge Kendol Bledsoe. My Britannia Petite winner BOSB MH397 - she ran, she leaped on Kendol, she was a ball of fire, a kite flying in the air, a fire breathing dragon, young, tired, spicy, excited all wrapped up in one tiny 2 pound, 35 miles per hour demon, she finally leaped into my arms for comfortat the end. 🤣

More freezing temperatures coming.... our barn is 30' x 45' partially enclosed two story. Here's what we do - no frozen bottles of water.
1. Water bottles covered by socks.
2. Cages covered with towels, blankets and comforters.
3. Open areas of barn are tarped.
4. Heater that shuts off reaching temperature or knocked over.
5. Nesting boxes full of hay.
