Meet Swayze 🥰
Swayze is a rooster that gets to live his best life at The Funny Farm. He is a stunning Jubilee Orpington. Unfortunately Swayze has a defect called ‘wry tail’ and as a result he cannot be used for breeding or show purposes. Although he may not get to bond with the ladies like he would like, he is one of the sweetest boys here and it’s nice to know he’s living his best life with us ☺️

Oh Spruce Goose.
This boy came to me, a full grown gander. With a full blown attitude. It took me a while to get to the point I could trust him while my back was turned. From That point of he took his job guarding me from everything very seriously.

Spruce refused to take to anyone else. He is very set in his ways this young man. I started to find out his triggers giving me more of a look at his home before us. He hates shoes. He is angry with everything. And he prefers to be spoke to on his level.

Spruce used to love attacking the man. Loved going right for the crotch and watching him run away. 🤭

For all who say geese are mean - yes - BUT - spruce is literally the Calvary. Once he loves you - he will protect you from mosquitoes! It took the man a long time , and a lot of talking to spruce on his level - but once a goose loves you - that love is immense ! So if you have a spicy gander , give him some extra love. And I bet he will be a fantastic gentleman to those he bonds with 🩷

Spruce now gives kisses to his boyfriend all the time 🥰

Can you tell I’m slightly obsessed with Gus ? This morning was the first morning of solid integration and I have to say, he is the only bird - and rooster specifically that was THIS EASY to introduce to the flock.

We have some special needs birds here that we love and he was a gentleman to them as well! By far this is one of the most dynamic breeds of chickens I have ever encountered. WE LOVE OUR GUSTAVO 🩷 and look at that color and height ! 🥵🤤

LET THEM GROW OUT.
When I started with poultry, one of the first lessons I learned was about grow outs.

When Bob was just a little guy I really didn’t want another rooster - didn’t need a satin rooster - wasn’t a fan of the coloring - so he went up for grabs.

Over the next little bit I kept looking at him, telling people I was debating on keeping him, just something about him kept getting my attention. Then. BAM. About 2 months later -

Out of his little cacoon came this super stunning handsome Satin rooster . His demeanor is that of a typical silkie . He’s a gentleman . But his color has the power to really stun on some girls. So, into a program he went.

I try really hard to let them develop as much as I can before deciding a few months if possible , and this one really paid off . 🩷 Bob Ross

Oh Waylon.

Waylon is my big Jersey Giant rooster, and he’s as sweet as can be. Right now he has a sore leg so he’s in with the babies. As you can tell he is quite happy to play Mr Mom 🥰

We’re pretty lucky to have some incredible boys on the farm. Every rooster we have is quite well mannered, and Waylon is definitely no exception 🐓

How peaceful is this mornings snack time with Dave the Turtle ? He’s been hanging out with us for 2 years now! He always somehow manages to know when snack time is ! He moves pretty fast when he sees his favorite crumbles 😅😅🐢
