NOW HIRING!
Laketown Cat Hospital –
We are a cat-only veterinary hospital looking for a veterinary technician to join our small team of cat-loving professionals and staff. We are located in a beautiful, open-minded community right off the shores of Lake Michigan – only a 10 minute drive into holland or 45 minutes to down-town Grand Rapids or Grand Haven. Our clients are wonderful and very devoted to their cats.
As a cat-only hospital, we offer high-end, quality services, medicine, and surgery. We seek a veterinary technician that can help represent these values and has similar goals in providing the best care possible to all kitties that pass through our doors. We emphasize education and strongly promote specialized skills necessary for this job. Candidate must have veterinary technician licensing or be eligible for such. Experience is valued but we would be willing to train a candidate who falls short in this area but possesses good people skills with aptitude and desire for the position. Candidate would be responsible for obtaining medical histories, restraining patients, venipuncture/IV placement, anesthesia monitoring, answering phonelines when busy, light cleaning (cages, floors, etc.), as well as many of the other tasks that present themselves during the average day at a vet hospital. We are looking for part-time with potential for full-time (20-30 hours/week currently). Wage is competitive with health-insurance stipend, discount pet care, scrub and CE allowance, etc. Please send resume to Dr. Klomp at [email protected] or contact us for more info.

It's almost Easter! We would like to extend a friendly reminder to all feline owners regarding the danger of the Easter Lily. Easter Lily's are very deadly to cats! All parts of the plant - the leaf, the pollen, and the flower are poisonous to them. Cats will go into kidney failure within 0 to 12 hours after ingesting lily's, and this will often lead to death. Please bring your cat in for immediate medical care if they have been in contact with the Easter Lily!

We are looking for a home for two 3yr old male neutered and front declawed cats. The owner of these cats passed away in September and they have been looking for a new loving forever home ever since. They have both had recent blood work performed and they will be updated on vaccines before they leave the clinic. We are really hoping to re-home them together since they are such good buddies. They are extremely affectionate and sweet. The moment you sit down they are in your lap looking for pets and love! If you would like to set up a time to meet them please call or message us. These boys deserve another chance at a forever home. They have been through so much and would love to come home with you!

We have recently had to euthanize two very sick cats that tested positive for feline leukemia in the past several weeks. We also just euthanized a cat with feline panleukopenia (parvo virus) over the holiday weekend. Feline leukemia is a 100% deadly virus once it is in a cats bone marrow. The parvo virus is extremely serious and requires aggressive hospitalization if the patient is to have a chance. Despite hospitalization panleukopenia quite often leads to euthanasia due to poor clinical response. Both of these viruses are in the area. We have safe and very effective vaccines that can prevent these diseases. Feline panleukopenia (parvo) is one of the diseases covered in the feline distemper combination vaccine. If you have outdoor cats that are not vaccinated for distemper or for feline leukemia, or if they are overdue, please make an appointment to get them up to date. These cases were heartbreaking and do not need to happen.

Come join our team at Laketown Cat Hospital!

We are a feline-exclusive veterinary hospital located near the coast of beautiful Lake Michigan in Saugatuck, MI. We are looking to hire full or part-time veterinary technicians/veterinary assistants and a full time veterinary receptionist.

As a specialty hospital, our practice has a strong emphasis on compassionate patient care and high-quality medicine and we schedule our appointments to allow the time we need to meet these standards.

New veterinary technician graduates are welcome to apply along with experienced techs. Candidates without licensing as veterinary technicians may also apply but should ideally have experience performing the duties of a veterinary technician at a small animal veterinary hospital. All employees must be open to further training and mentoring. Compensation is above-average and is based upon experience and performance reviews. We provide a health insurance stipend, discounted veterinary care, and CE, and scrubs.

Effective Monday June 28th, 2021:

We’re transitioning to a curbside/indoor visit model, and it’s not totally about Covid.

For a variety of reasons, the demand for veterinary services has increased dramatically since March, 2020. This increased demand is a national as well as a local phenomenon, and it has not slowed down. At times, the demand has outpaced our ability to adequately supply it.

In order to meet the demand of our regular clients, for whom we are very grateful, we must maintain the most efficient model, and that has proven to be curbside. This allows us to avoid 2-4+ week wait times for appointments, such as we’ve had to impose upon new clients, for whom we are also very thankful.

We will now be allowing clients in per their request with their cats. Masks are still required for entry. Please call when you get here to let us know that you have arrived. We will collect a history over the phone regarding the reason for your cat’s visit. You will then be taken to an exam room and your cat will be taken to our treatment area where the doctor will exam them. After the examination the doctor will return to the exam room to discuss a treatment plan for your cat. Diagnostics and treatments will be carried out per the discussed plan and we will accept payment and provide a receipt for you inside the exam room.

People picking up refills on medications and prescription foods will not be yet be allowed into the building. If you are picking up refills for food or medications, please call when you arrive so that we can accept payment over the phone and we will bring out your purchase.

Drs. Klomp and P***n will continue to deliver the quality veterinary medicine that you have come to expect at Laketown Cat Hospital. The goal has always been to deliver compassionate & comprehensive veterinary care. That looks different today than it did prior to the pandemic, but the product delivered to the patient remains the same, as it ought to be. We are grateful for your continued support during this time.

06/18/2021

Phones and internet out today. We are still open and seeing appointments, but things are running slower than usual, so please be patient with us. We also can not check our email messages, so if you have emailed in the past 24 hrs and need immediate attention please call or message us via FB! Thanks for your support!

This gorgeous boy was brought in by one of our clients last Thursday. He is a neighborhood stray that's been coming around since last Fall, and he has sadly been getting beat up by other outdoor cats. He came in with severe wounds requiring surgery on his right front leg and multiple superficial scratches and wounds over the rest of his body. Despite all this he is a very friendly and happy cat. He is so grateful for pets and food. Unfortunately this client can not keep him but has generously taken care of his medical needs - including neutering, feline leukemia/FIV testing, and de-worming. He will be recovering at her house, but she is looking for someone that would be interested in giving him the good home he so deserves. If you are interested in making the rest of his years happy ones please contact us at the office at 269-455-5056.
