As a current veterinary technician student my experiences with dogs (and other animals) also include, having pets of my own, working in local shelters, completing disaster search and rescue, and emergency disaster care. Most recently I traveled to the affected areas of hurricane Harvey where I rescued and cared for displaced animals. In addition, I've worked with all ages of animals as well as tho
se with severe behavioral and health issues both in my home and in shelter situations. If you want someone who is comfortable around all types of dogs as well as confident in their abilities, I believe I am the handler for you. My main goal is the safety and happiness of your pets and with my years of experience, I believe that I can provide that to your pets as well as provide peace of mind to you. I have animal first aid experience and have administered fluids, topical, oral and injectable treatments. I also have an extensive awareness of the foods that are dangerous to dogs and cats. My schedule is flexible as I work both inside and outside of the house with various clients every week. With of my wide range of experiences and flexible schedule I will try my best to accommodate your schedule and special pet requests. It is my policy to reserve the right to adjust prices on lesser valued services (Walking and Drop-Ins) if they are 15 minutes or more from my home. If the service location is approximately 20 minutes away from my home, I may consider it outside of my service area, especially in regards to locations on the east bank of the Hudson River. You may also like to know that the rate listed for house sitting includes, breakfast, dinner, and my overnight time. While I strive to spend as much time as possible in your home during a sitting, this is the maximum amount of time that I can guarantee during my business periods without additional service fees. In regards to drop-ins and walks, I offer longer walk and drop-in requests for an additional fee.
5 Gotcha Days with Sookie means 4 full and beautiful years with my foster-fail turned best friend. Thanks to her I’ll always know what it’s like to have a “soul dog” and she’ll have a permanent spot in my heart for the rest of eternity. I’ll cherish every day until I have to say goodbye to the strongest little being I’ll ever know. 💗
Sweet 🐾 Angus started his puppy program yesterday. At about 5 months old he has experienced quite a lot for such a young pup! From a stray in the south to the caring walls of and then into a home… he’s seen a lot!
He’s a happy and energetic dude who needs some help learning a few new skills. He will be learning how to not get so overstimlated by new places and things and walk calmly on a leash while his new owners learn how to properly and effectively communicate with him while he learns everything there is to know about being apart of their family! So cheer this cutie on in the comments and let him know how handsome he is. 😍

Researching behavior in any capacity can be overwhelming, mostly because there are no concrete answers. Consider your dog, what's working and what's not, but also consider yourself. How do you learn? How do you teach? What have you been through that has shaped you? Does it help you or hinder you? Does it need to be addressed before moving forward?
The right path won't feel full of resistance and failure. It will feel, although challenging, encouraging and productive.

There is nothing natural about large numbers of unfamiliar dogs partaking in high-intensity activity in a dog park, and this shouldn’t be the benchmark for a social dog. If your dog is not their best in such an environment, you are not doing anything wrong. 👏👏 There is nothing wrong with your dog. 👏👏 Your dog is normal. 👏👏

I am so proud of Seamus and his family! They just finished his 8 week behavior modification lesson program and he’s done AMAZING!
Before we started Seamus had a TON of unfulfilled prey drive and no impulse control. This caused him to pace, circle, and bark almost obsessively. He also needed some new leash walking skills.
SO we got to work on giving him new outlets for his prey drive, including flirt pole play and scent work foundations while giving him his desperately needed “off switch” by introducing the Place command. He’s also walking so well on leash now that he understands leash pressure and what it means!
He’s done SO well and I can’t wait to continue to help open up his world and create a happier more fulfilled dog!

Ruthie 🐾 and her mom Deana recently finished their training program. Before we began Ruthie was fearful of many new and loud things, pulled on leash, and rushed the door to greet visitors. During private lessons Ruthie learned how to correctly work through situations she may be nervous about, build her confidence, walk politely on leash, and utilize her crate to relax before greeting new guests.
Well done Ruthie and Deana! I love watching your skills as a team grow!

Meet Sabie! 🐾 She’s about half way through her behavior modification program. Sabie has become very reactive to other dogs in her new home. She also has a lot of pent up energy that needs an appropriate outlet along with some general obedience issues we are working on. She’s been very responsive to our work together. What a fun girl!
