Ok so good news is that we are very full with inventory, some items here and there are backordered but overall it's healthy in here to the point that I'm out of storage and there are boxes everywhere. Moving things to clearance all the time to make room.
Bad news is that vendor price increases continue to hit every single month and we are now in one of the most dreaded ones, Weruva. :( :(
But good news is that I was able to put some SUPER affordable Fromm cat cans in the clearance area for prices that didn't even exist 5 years ago and monthly promos continue to offer some REALLY good savings.
More lovely news is that I'm going to have some awesome help getting ready for the Holiday season!!
And the really GREAT news is that Small Business Saturday is shaping up to be really good! Like, even better than in past years. Stay tuned, shop local!

So Neighborhood Pet Store Day prep last week kind of overshadowed the fact that the Dog Days of Summer can match from arrived last week!

The shelter most needed kitten/cat and that's what they came through with -- we matched 500, they sent even cases to give 504, and they immediately made their way to the shelter!

Thanks to my favorite driver for all the extra loose small case delivery he had to do, and Jo for coming to pick them up and tackling that with me, and to for promoting the event!

Lots of parties came through on this one and of course all of YOU for participating back in August!! What a lovely community we have!! Couldn't have done it without your enthusiasm, thanks for loving and helping the animals!! ❤️ 🐈

It's finally Neighborhood Pet Store Day!!!
Traffic has been a breeze from the red bridge side coming into the village, so far, and plenty of parking! Don't let the garlic festival deter you! Everyone is over that way, and so far we're even more accessible than normal.

My dream was to have a store.

Ever since I was young, I wanted a store. As I got older and cared for more animals, I started to realize that Petsmart & Petco just weren’t carrying good products for them (and sometimes no products at all). The more I researched, the more I found out that by some estimates 50% of products offered in large commercial stores are blatantly inappropriate or even toxic to the pet that they’re advertised for. Isn’t that insane?! A lot of the rest were made as cheaply as possible just to be able to say that they meet certain standards, but were still very poor quality. There is actually relatively little regulation and oversight in the pet industry. On top of that, 50% of dog and cat food is owned and manipulated by just 2 companies who package up food under a bunch of different names and pretty designs, but it’s all a trick. This means that they get to greatly influence the market and tell us what’s best, based on what is best for them.

At Saugertails, I will do my best to guide you to better options. I will be honest with you; I do not believe there is any 1 “perfect” food or even 1 “best” food for cats or dogs (or any pet). I do not believe that there is any 1 perfect toy. Or harness. Or bed. Or bowl. Our pets are individuals, and they all are going to like different things. But I have chosen, to the best of my knowledge, safer, higher quality, and in a lot of cases much more unique inventory for you to choose from. And at the end of the day as long as they’re fed, sheltered, taken to the vet, and loved, I promise to never judge what you provide for them.
