Dear Atlas Animal Hospital Clients:

Asking for a little help this evening if you will!

Our hospital has a fire protection system provided by another local business in town. An alarm was triggered today and the receptionist at this business was unwilling to transfer me to the on-call technician to get help. The alarm can be temporarily silenced, but it will continue to go off. I expressed this concern and she ended the call.

Shortly thereafter, we began receiving multiple false 1 star Google reviews with the initial one being posted by a person with the name of “Sheena Anderson”. This is the same name as the person employed by the fire protection company here in town.

The reviews have been reported as fraudulent, but we would appreciate your help reporting them as false if you would. Next to each Google review is an icon you can click to “report review”.

Our team works too hard to allow a non-client to disrupt our amazing 5 star rating.

Thank you all so much. We wish you a very Happy New Year!

Dr Emily Bradbury

It’s National Veterinary Technician Week and we are celebrating Vicky!

Vicky received her RVT (registered veterinary technician license) from San Juan College in New Mexico and is currently working on her bachelors of veterinary technology degree at St Petersburg College in Florida.

Vicky is skilled in all aspects of veterinary medicine including anesthesia monitoring, wound care/bandaging, radiology, ear/skin cytology, and in-patient care for hospitalized pets. She is also fluent in Spanish allowing us to provide care for Spanish speaking clients and their pets.

Atlas Animal Hospital owes much of our success to Vicky and we cannot thank her enough for her dedication to this profession!

“When will my mom be back?!”

Frank had a dental cleaning today and was the most perfect, quiet patient in his cage.

Don’t worry, his mom came to get him not long after we took this photo (and yes- he is named after the pug from Men In Black!)

We can all agree. Summer is here.

As our 90 degree spring weather melts into the dog days of summer, we're here to remind you that heat kills. Our pets are less tolerant than we are when it comes to being outside in the throws of southeast summer, especially our brachycephalic breeds. (Frenchies, Boxers, English Bulldogs, Pugs, ect)

Heat strokes are unfortunately a common case we see at the emergency clinic. Even something as simple as going to the dog park can turn into a nightmare if proper precautions aren't taken.

When a dog has a heat stroke, their core body temperature rises to a dangerous degree that begins to cause tissue death and other life threatening issues such as DIC. The presenting symptoms usually begin with hypersalivation, hyperventilation, and a distressed attitude. They progress to having bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and usually have a collapse associated with it. Seizures may occur as well.

Keep your pet safe this summer. Always have water (NOT SALT WATER) and shade available if your pup is joining you on an adventure. Test any asphalt with your hand before allowing your pet to walk on it. Never, under any circumstances, leave your pet in a turned off car, even just for a minute to "run in" somewhere. And when in doubt about whether it's too hot for your fur baby, err on the side of caution and assume it is.

Heat strokes are tough medical cases and can be very long, hard roads for our patients. They can require pricey blood products and long stays in the ICU. And unfortunately, the prognosis usually is very guarded despite all medical intervention.

Call your vet immediately if your pet experiences any symptoms left below. We hope everyone is having a safe Springtime with their loved ones, both human and furry alike.

Today is Atlas Animal Hospital’s 1 year Anniversary!

I am so thankful for our hardworking, compassionate team who have been with us since our opening day. Vicky, Caitlin, and Lennie know all of our patients by name and have allowed us to provide the exceptional care your pets deserve.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us and recommending us to your friends and family. Opening a new hospital was scary and felt overwhelming at times, but our clients have been absolutely wonderful and I love working with you!

On to the next amazing year!

Meet Caitlin- one of our veterinary assistants/receptionists!

Caitlin helps schedule wellness appointments and coordinate our urgent care work-ins. She knows how stressful it is to have a sick pet and is very knowledgeable regarding what constitutes a true veterinary emergency.

We are so glad to have her help up front working with our clients and in our treatment area caring for your babies!
