Hi! I’m Poppy! This sweet, medium-sized girl (around 30 lbs) has a soft coat and a big heart.

Rescued just in time to safely deliver her puppies, she’s now ready for a forever home! Poppy is housebroken, walks well on a leash with guidance, and thrives in a home with a secure, fenced yard (bonus points if there are squirrels to chase!). She’s affectionate with her people but needs a strong leader—otherwise, she’ll happily take charge! Best suited for an adult-only home, Poppy is selective with other dogs and likely not cat-friendly. Freedom ride x 11! It's an unusually busy Tuesday for us as volunteers went out early to intake 11 small dogs from a home. These Yorkies were not used for sales, they were loved, but someone just got in over their head and needed help. We've promised to help find them wonderful families after we get them caught up on vetting and all spayed and neutered.

This is Apricot, one of our recent hoarding cases. We told you they were going to have a lot of medical care. This poor girl had to have 28 teeth removed, yes TWENTY-EIGHT! We're sure she feels much better, but her bill stung a little when we received it this morning. Of last week's $2900 bill, her portion for all her care was $1,495.57. We would be incredibly grateful if you would consider a $5 donation towards her bill. We have two more of the hoarding case dogs going in today for their surgeries and care, so this week and next are going to be higher than our normal weekly bills.

Urgent Notice for Pets with Save This Life (STL) Microchip:

We’re reaching out to share an important update regarding the unexpected shutdown of the Save This Life (STL) Microchip Registry. STL’s database has been unlinked from national registries, which means pets with STL microchips are currently untraceable if lost.

This issue affects microchips starting with the numbers 991 or 900164, leaving countless pets at risk of being separated from their families.

From now until February 28, 2025, BuddyID is offering free registration for STL microchips transferred to their registry. This ensures pets remain protected and traceable.

Here’s how you can take action:
If you have pets with STL microchips starting with 991 or 900164, they must be re-registered with a new database. BuddyID makes it easy— call 800-434-2843 to switch their microchip to BuddyID at no cost.

Coastal Pet Rescue pets are chipped with AKC Reunite chips unless they came to us with a chip already. We do not currently show any of our adoptable pets with a STL chip, but it's a good reminder to check that your pet's chip registry information is current regularly.

Over the moon in ❤️ with Moon 🐾

of this cuddle bugs photo shoot 🐞📸Sweet Moon came to rescue pregnant but now has given birth and raised her litter up to a point to where they could be weaned. Now she is looking for her forever home! Moon has proven to be the perfect houseguest!

When you come home, she will greet you with great enthusiasm and tell you her joy at seeing you with whimpers and other verbal cues. She lives to play and gets along with dogs of all sizes and after introductions. She loves to walk on a leash. Not a fan of cats, Moon would be better off in a dog only home. She has not been around children in her foster home - as affectionate as she is, it’s hard to believe she wouldn’t do well with kids.

Best of all, Moon is a big hugger - she will crawl into your bed and cuddle up right next to you each morning so that your day starts out right!

We are happy to announce we are now taking applications for some of our recent hoarding rescues. Copper (male Dachshund), Maize (male Shih Tzu), Apricot (female Poodle), Chestnut (male Dachshund), and Midnight (male Boston Terrier) are all still learning about being dogs. They only lived their lives in cages of squalor, so families need to be realistic on the time it may take for their new pet to adjust and learn the routines of a household.

Tomorrow marks the 22nd anniversary of Coastal Pet Rescue. Unfortunately, feels like we will still be at this for another 22 years to come with cases like Diego who found his way to us today. There is nothing quite heartbreaking as a dog slowly inching towards a clean water dish, turning his head to you almost as if asking permission before drinking, then struggling to keep standing while doing so. Who knows how long it's been since someone cared for him, but he will have it now, and we will do everything we can to make him forget having ever been neglected because it's what we continue to do, day in, day out.
