Whiskers Rescue Inc. Whiskers Rescue focuses on humanely stopping the cycle of cats and kittens born to suffer outside. We are a small group of 2 very dedicated women.

Despite our size we manage to fund hundreds of spay/neuter vouchers for low-income residents annually with a goal of empowering people feeding cats to become caretakers that control the population of cats they feed.

We have lots more cats to trap and we are working on appointments. We have many pending applications that we are waiting...

We were hoping for 3 trap and voucher pick ups yesterday but our calls were not returned. We did get one application that will move forward for a colony with about 8 cats. Stop in to do some shopping to help. I had one more application come in over night that I will call at a reasonable hour : )

The myth of a no kill NJ continues. The reality is that as shelters opt not to euthanize for space they also create wait lists or deny people the ability to surrender. This does define them as no kill but it does NOT make NJ no deaths. Cats are being abandoned and killed by residents in record numbers. The ONLY way to no kill is through prevention. Skipping to the end simply creates a "slow kill" nation where cats die suffering on the streets but are never recorded in statistics. Our little Dumpling is the perfect example of a cat being turned away and left to suffer and die. It was only luck that we saw a social media post before it was too late.

One large nationwide advocacy group has designated Essex, Morris, Sussex, Cape May, Monmouth, Mercer, and Salem counties as "No-Kill" on this page. We help indivuals who feed to become caretakers and TNR their entire colony and then maintain by fixing any new cats that show up. We do require permission from property owners. Be sure to fill out the entire application. We have multiple veterinary options and we do have traps to lend. We are happy to teach you how to safely trap and recover your cats.

I have been working to add new pieces every day. Stop in to do some weekend shopping. I am waiting for calls back from 3 people we offered help with cats.
