Mutt Monday
Miss. Annabelle is ready and waiting to find that forever home. Not long ago she was dumped as a stray in Columbia County. Left to fend for herself, she found her way to Columbia County Animal Control. They asked us for help with her and we happened to have a spot open. This week girl is approximatley 9 months to a year old. She is kind of shy, learning to walk on a leash and will be a great addition to a family that is looking for a giant puppy. We are still learning about her abilities with other dogs and cats. We have no idea how she is with kids. This girl is going to be a very large girl. She will need room to run and a place to call her own.

If you are interested in meeting her we ask that you please email [email protected] we will happy to send you an application.

Don’t “assume” that someone you trust and love will take care for your precious pet if something happens to you. Make firm arrangements, so they do not end up alone in a shelter or worse…

Mutt Monday
Lets start this week out right. Everyone meet Amy, this lovely not so little lady is about 8-10 months old, weighing in already at right around 100lbs. This girl is one of the newest additions to the CHS family. She is going to need someone who understands her and is willing to spend the time training her. She is a little shy for about 60 seconds and then she will be your bestfriend. So far she gets along with other dogs. This kiddo is going to need room to run and play. She won't be an apartment dog at all. We have no idea how she is going to do with cats. Due to her size and her inability to realize that she is as big as she is, we would not suggest putting her in a home with kids that are under 12 years old.

If you are interested in adopting this wonderful girl we ask that you please email [email protected] in order to obtain an application. Once you have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet her. Her adoption fee is $350.00 that will include her being spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, treated for fleas and treated for worms.

Mutt Monday: Meet Jake the newest member of the CHS family. This guys is about 7 months old and weighs in right around 20lbs. He doesn't seem to mind other dogs, but has no prior experience with cats. Right now he is a little shy and just doesn't understand why he has to be here. He has lived with kids previously and did well. He is potty trained and uses potty pads, but will also alert to needing to go outside.

If you are interested in meeting him please email [email protected] in order to obtain an application. Once we have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet him. His adoption fee is $350.00. That will cover his neuter, is vaccinations, his chip, being treated for fleas and for worms.

RUTT NEEDS YOUR HELP! URGENTLY SEEKING MEDICAL FOSTER FOR 3-4 MONTH OLD PUPPY!

On September 18th, 2024, a puppy came in as a stray from Beaver Springs Rd in Rainier. We named him Rutt and he is approximately a 3–4-month-old large mixed breed. He appeared to be a healthy and happy-go-lucky puppy. However, on Tuesday September 24th, while providing morning care to the dogs, the puppy displayed some concerning symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting. After consulting with our partner veterinary hospital and following their guidance. We found that he had tested positive for Parvovirus. After a long stressful day of cleaning, monitoring, and several phone calls I was able to get him hospitalized at Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency. While this sweet puppy is doing exceptionally well during his recovery. We are in desperate need of a foster who is willing to care for this little guy while he is still being quarantined.
In a normal situation, we would be able to house him in our isolation building; however, we have been overwhelmed with 4 dogs being housed in our isolation due to 3 active investigations including criminal neglect. We are doing everything we can to minimize movements and clean accordingly to prevent cross contamination especially to dogs who are already immune compromised.

The type of foster home we are looking for is someone who is willing to:
• Foster the puppy until he has completed the quarantine period and presented a negative test result.
• Willing to expose their property or a portion of their property to parvo.
• Does not have any other dogs that could potentially be transmitted to.
We would prefer someone with some sort of medical experience, but it is not required. We will be providing any supplies needed to the foster. We understand this is a huge ask but we are in desperate need to keep everyone at the shelter safe.

If you are unable to foster but would still love to help out Rutt we do accept tax deductible donations. Whether you are interested in providing monetary donations or providing more towels and blankets. We are extremely appreciative of all donations.

Please email us at [email protected] to become a foster home for Rutt!!

Thank you in advance for your support! Please help us find Rutt a safe place to get better!!

Lets all welcome the newest CHS member. Meet Brother. This guy is 6.5 years old, gets along with other dogs, will chase a cat, but runs from the cat if the cat stands up to him and he is great with kids. He is a German Shorthair Pointer, so if you own chickens this isn't the guy for you. He has a ton of energy and he needs a family that will give him an outlet for that energy. He has had some good training and has a good understanding of basic commands. He weighs about 52lbs but he does have sensitive skin so we have him on a Salmon based diet. If you are interested in meeting him we ask you please email [email protected]

We are looking for a sponsorship for this guys enrichment package. Sponsorship is $175.00 includes his harness, collar, blankets, chew toys, kongs all the good stuff that he uses at the shelter and will take home with him. As always we greatly appreciate the support and couldn't do the work without you.
