Building a BETTER TEAM, A Barn Hunt Workshop
at All About the RAT! in Lakeland, Florida

Dog training, teamwork and understanding the concepts behind the training are all part of a working relationship between dog and handler.
How does this play into Barn Hunt? A team that understands and respects each other will always be the team that goes in the ring confident, understand the task and get the job done. Does mean a qualifying score will always be? Absolutely not. However, teamwork is the root to all roads in dog training.

Treasure Coast Pirate Cluster in Fort Pierce, Florida - AKC FETCH is being offered in Novice and Intermediate levels. 2 days/4 tests, Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12, 2024. Judges for this event are Kathy Marble-Brown and Deborah Salerno.
Strawberry Cluster in Lakeland, Florida - AKC FETCH is being offered in Novice and Intermediate Levels. 4 day/8 tests, Thursday - Sunday, February 13-16, 2025. Judges for this event are Kathy Marble-Brown, Deborah Salerno, Ann Yeager and Kelly Castle.
We are offering an Early Bird Entry with discounted fees for both Clusters. Late and Day of entries will be accepted.

We will be offering an Introduction to AKC FETCH workshop along with an Advanced and Retriever Workshop. Advanced and Retriever require training. These two levels are not easy.

4-week session using a Facebook Format. Participates can work the lessons on their time. Videos and Written post will be scheduled throughout the weeks. This is a progressive class building on the foundation skills. It's important to follow the lessons in order.
Begin the exciting game of scent work! This is a sport for just about everyone. It’s easy on the handler and the dog. Equipment needed is inexpensive.
The course will focus on odor imprinting, building a solid foundation while creating value for odor, basic concepts in searching for odor, proper use and handling of odor, playing games to build confidence and focus. Building drive for searching for food, effectively teaching to stay at source and strengthening skills.

Reminder from the email of check in and start times:
Check-in for Advanced will be between 7:15 am and 7:45 am. Briefing ringside at 7:50 am (no dogs). First dog on the line at 8:00 am.
Check in for Intermediate will be 09:30 am to 9:45 am with briefing ringside (no dogs) at 9:50 am and first dog on the line at 10 am.
Check in for Novice will be at 11:00 am to 11:15 am with briefing ringside (no dogs) at 11:30 am. First dog on the line at 11:45 am.
If all teams are on the grounds before the estimated start times for your level and we have finished the prior level, we will proceed.

If you are interested in a new fun game to play with your dog, this is it!
Don’t let the wording “retrieve” throw you off as being easy.
Novice and Intermediate are doable for most dog. Keep in mind there are still rules to follow.
Advanced and Retriever are in a class of their own. It’s about memory and taking directive from the handler. These level require a different level of training.
