Breaking News! The Extreme Classroom Heat Bill is now law!

This sets maximum classroom temperature thresholds, ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for students and educators.

Thank you to NYSUT - A Union of Professionals and all who our dedicated educators who advocated for this change—together, we made it happen!

Today we’re celebrating a monumental victory for students and educators! The classroom heat bill has been signed by Governor Kathy Hochul!

NYSUT President Melinda Person has released a statement in response to the bill creating maximum temperatures for schools being signed into law.

Thank you to our members who worked tirelessly to get this passed and to James Skoufis and NYS Assemblymember Christopher W. Eachus for their unwavering advocacy.
