RAW Mustangs

RAW Mustangs Hello! My name is Rebekah Ann Welters and I am a Mustang Heritage Foundation approved TIP trainer Working with mustangs, however, is not a new concept for me.

My business, RAW Mustangs, is the product of a lifelong dream to work with and train mustangs. I got my first untouched mustang, Flicka, when I was just 13 years old, and to this day she is still a willing and trusting partner. Since Flicka I have gentled and worked with multiple mustangs as well as domestic bred horses. When working with mustangs I approach it as an opportunity to create trust an

d build a solid foundation for that horse to grow from and have a successful career in any discipline. Aside from gentling mustangs, I also host clinics of various disciplines to help my clientele and their horses continually build upon their skills. TIP Requirements:
Gentling requirements include, animals must be leading, loading in a trailer, allowing human contact for grooming, and picking up all 4 feet to be considered as ready for adoption. These are the minimum training requirements. More info on the TIP Program:

Mare and Gelding (Names to be decided)
Owned by- Jan Christian Suddergaard Andersen
Mare- Tag # 8345 -Liver Chestnut -5 year old -Sand Springs HMA, OR.
Gelding- Tag # 6243 -Brown -7 year old -Black Rock Range HMA, NV.

These two horses have been some of the most, easy and enjoyable older horses we’ve gentled and started! Both of them came in, very mellow and calm and from day one have been a delight to be around. Both in their own ways have been very willing and trainable. We picked them up in Nevada, about 2 months ago, completely wild and untouched and here is where they are currently at in their training.

Both horses can:
-Be caught by anyone in any size of pen/pasture.
-Respectful and easy to halter.
-Softly leads and backs up.
-Stand tied politely, with hard tie, soft tie and cross ties.
-Grooms nose to tail and everywhere in between.
-Pick up, pick out and trim all four feet.
-Loads, stands correctly and backs out of the trailer softly.
-Respectful with other horses, mares and geldings. (The mare does get mare-ish while in season)
-Respects fences. (Hot and solid fences)
-Hobbled trained
-Stands for hose downs and baths. The mare loves the pampering and the gelding likes to play with the water.
-Fly sprays
-Fly masks
-Body maneuvers and moves off of pressure wherever pressure is applied. (lowers head, forehand turn, haunch turn, side passing both directions, lateral flexion, backing up softly, follow nose to tail to untangled, and etc)
-Round penning and lunging. Walk, trot, canter and stops off of voice commands, turns and gives you two eyes for respect.
-Desensitizing/ Sacking out. (Tarps, poles, plastic bags, flags, ropes, blankets, pool noodles, and etc)
-Goes those obstacle courses with ease. Gate, poles, bridge, moves “scary” objects (slicker a.k.a. rain jacket and garbage bag with cans in it.), mailbox, walk over and back off of a narrow tarp, walk though pool noodle box/ cowboy curtain box, brush pile, hanging tarp, rope and drag log, drag tier though the stumps, wave flag all around and place back in barrel, cross ditch/ water. The obstacle course consistently gets changed up and they take it all in strides.
-Roped out and gives to the rope. (All four feet, girth, flank, rimfire, and etc.)
-Wears saddles and carries the bit
-Sacking out and desensitizing with the saddle on.
-Ground tie while loading and unloading objects in the saddle bags. Plastic bags and empty cans. (Pretty much loud scary noises.) lol

They are getting a lot of exposure to daily life on a farm and with farming and activities going on constantly around them and learning the ins and outs of being a domestic horse.
Cars, trucks, tractors, farm equipment, bicycles, farm animals, dogs, wildlife, wild kids and etc. Just to name a few of the things they have seen so far.

They both love affection and scratches from adults and kids. Definitely no stranger danger. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these two, so far it looks bright.🌟

🚨 We need your feedback! 🚨

We are currently floating the idea of hosting Nate Eicher of Eicher Ranch for a clinic at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Albany, Oregon on August 10th and 11th.

Nate is a renowned horseman and trainer. He has competed in several competitions including Mustang Champions at the Fort Worth Stock Show, Road to the Horse Wildcard Challenge, and more! This would be a great opportunity to learn from one of the best!

We need to know how much interest there would be because we would be flying Nate out from Texas to put the clinic on so we want to make sure it would be worth everyone’s time.

The clinic would be a two day in saddle or in hand clinic on Horsemanship/Building Confidence. 14 spots would be available at $500 for the two days. Teens And Oregon Mustangs participants would get a reduced price of $430/spot(this is just our cost to put on the clinic). Auditors are welcome for $25/day.

If you are participating in the Teens and Mustangs challenge this would be a great opportunity just 3 weeks ahead of the competition to introduce your horse to the fairgrounds and facilities!

Desert Rose update.🏜️🌹

Every horse progresses at their own rate. Some are fast and easy and others are slow and tougher, and that’s okay!

Here is where Rose is at in her training now.

-Trust, respect and manners
-(TIP requirements met)
-Easy to catch and halter in any size of pen, large or small.
-Leads and backs up
-Stands tied politely in cross ties, hard tied, or loose tied.
-Grooms all over nose to tail
-Pick up and clean out all 4 feet
-Stands for the farrier and has gotten feet trimmed.
-Loads, stands currently and backs out of a trailer
-Fly spray
-Dewormed with deworming paste in the mouth.
-Hobbled trained.
-Moves off of pressure whatever pressure is applied. (Body maneuvers)
-Hips, shoulders, side passing, lateral flexion, lower head, back up in a straight line three way, follow nose to tail/ unwind, leads and gives to pressure with all 4 feet.
-Round pen and lunge all three gates, worked up and down, (walk, trot, canter) off of voice commands, and body language. Stops promptly and changes directions.
-Sack out/ Desensitizing to tools and objects. (Ropes, whips, flags, blankets, coats/ rain jackets, plastic bags, tarps and.. etc)
-Rope out. Roped from head to tail and everything in between. (All four feet, front cinch, back cinch, flank, and under the tail/rimfire)
-Saddled and packs all the gear around with ease.
-Sack out/desensitized in the saddle.
-Goes over obstacles no problem. (Poles, side passes over poles, does haunch turns and forehand turn in the box, goes over tarps, bridges, barrels, will stand on the tractor tier, can drag a small tire, can swing a rope around her and rope objects, can open and close the mailbox, backs and walks though poles and traffic cones… Many more obstacles to come!)
-Getting a good start on showmanship (will trot in hand, stops, sets up, backs and does forehand and haunches)

Desert Rose is a total sweetheart that tries hard, learnings fast and is an absolute delight to be around! Looking forward to seeing where we go from here!

What a whirlwind of two days! We traveled to Reno, NV to pick up a gelding and a mare a client purchased from the online auction. The trip was smooth(other than a 30 mile gravel road detour thanks to google 😅), and we got to see lots of scenery! We are excited to watch these horses develop so be sure to check back for updates!

Introducing my 2024 Teens And Oregon Mustangs competition mare. Pick up was yesterday and already off to a great start! Tag removed, drag line removed and lots of scratches, and of course met Paisley! 🥰
She is very sweet, curious, and is already winning over our hearts! ❤️

The path may have been tough but the outcome is worth it!

Duke came in as a last ditch effort for Kate. She was lost and didn’t know what to do with him as she had hit multiple roadblocks with him and gone through several different trainers, with little to no progress. You may have called us crazy but we told her we’d give Duke a chance to see if we could do something with him. I just knew it was the right thing to do!

Well here we are 90 days later, doing something Kate thought she would never be able to do with Duke. I don’t think I have seen anybody smile as much or cry happy tears as much or just be filled with as much joy as I have seen Kate these last couple lessons riding her own horse.

To know that I played a role in bringing these two together and helped them overcome their struggles, is why I do want I do. It’s worth it!

We’ve had a familiar face in the barn the past couple of months. TIP Horse #2 aka Duke came back to us in January to work through a few problems he was having. When he came back in he wasn’t able to have his feet trimmed by the farrier, had a bad bolting habit, trailer loading problems and couldn’t be ridden safely. We are glad to report that Duke no longer has any of those issues and his owner was able to get on and safely ride him today for the first time in a year. It’s moments like this that make our hearts happy 😊

This weekend was the closing of one chapter for Aerowyn (Aka Red) and the opening of an exciting new chapter! We hauled him to Mustang Matt Horse Trainer to get him further in his career. We were able to accomplish the TIP requirements with Aerowyn, but he needed a little more experienced hand to go to the next level. In just three short days he has crossed many milestones and is right where he belongs. 😊

💥SOLD💥

Brooks N Dun
•Titled BLM Mustang
•Red Dun
•5 Year Old
•14 Hands
•Gelding
•Palomino Buttes HMA, OR
•Located in Scio Oregon

Brooks is broke with a great foundation and is ready to be your next Hard Workin' Man.
Brooks has manners and respect for whoever is handling him.
He’s easy to catch/halter
Stands tied politely
Grooms nose to tail with no hesitation
Stands politely for the farrier
Baths
Blankets
Clips
He is hobbled trained
Takes deworming paste with ease
Good with the vet
Loads and unloads in the trailer
Respects fences and knows what a hot fences is.
Gets along with other horses, mares and geldings.
Great with groundwork exercises (round pens, lunges, yields to pressure, backs up, lateral flexion, lowers head, stands to be tacked up and bridled, and…etc)
Goes through obstacle courses in hand, and in saddle.
Talk/trot/canter with a loss rein
Does maneuvers on the ground and in saddle (forehand turns, haunch turns, and side passing)
Rides out solo or with a group
Rides out in the open fields, down narrow trails, on the road with passing vehicles, crosses water, and has been around farming equipment, livestock and anything else you might encounter out on a ride.
He has gone to perrydale trails and rocked every obstacle.
He will pick you up at the mounting block, the fence or any other object you ask him to step up to.
Can crack a bullwhip, or swing a rope off of him.
He competed in the Teens and Oregon Mustangs 100 day challenge back in 2022. Where he placed in the top 10 in the riding division.

Brooks has a lot to offer and would benefit best from a confident intermediate or experienced rider. He does best when he can be used regularly, he’s not one that can sit for long periods of time (multiple months) and pull out and jump on, without round penning or lunging first.
He is up to date on dewormer, feet trimmed, teeth done, and vet checked sound and healthy.

If you make Brooks your next Brand New Man, you will get a great all-around horse that’s full of heart and grit!

Price is low- mid $X,###.
