Nothing better than an adoption update!

Cooper needed a little time to adjust to his new people. He found a patient home with a senior Chihuahua who was in need of a friend since the passing of his canine companion.

Cooper always has a warm lap to curl up on and humans who adore him. Happy life Coop!

This may be a sad post, but an important message to share about rescue and the amazing people involved.

A year and a half ago we took in a Golden Retriever puppy from a breeder who could not sell her. It was reported she had a heart condition, to which we didn't know the extent. Our amazing vet team acted fast and got this puppy, named Annabelle, the care she needed immediately.

Annabelle had a terminal heart condition, with multiple different issues. Thankfully, an adopter came forward fully knowing Annabelle would be a hospice dog, something that is made extra difficult when you see a beautiful and lively little puppy.

Annabelle was loved and lived her life to the fullest. This hospice pup kept defying the odds, growing and being the happiest girl. While no dog lives forever, we kept hoping Annabelle would be the rare case who got to live her full dog life with her amazing family. Unfortunately this was not the case and today, just shy of her 2nd birthday, Annabelle passed.

While we are extremely heartbroken, we can't help but also feel grateful. Annabelle only knew the very best. She got to play, explore and was the center of the world to the people who loved her so very much.

We know she is running zoomies over the rainbow bridge, something that was so hard for her to do here on earth. Thank you to the family who adored her and all those out there who take on the extra tricky pets. We could't do what we do with out you 🌈

Let’s play a game! 🐾 We all give our pets a million nicknames—some of which make no sense. 😂 Meet Teddy - and while his name is already adorable, we think he deserves some fun nicknames!

🧸 Sir Theodore Fluffington III – because he looks like a tiny, distinguished gentleman.
🐾 Teddy Scruffins – for his perfect scruffy look.
💛 Captain Snugglebeard – because who wouldn’t want to cuddle this guy?

A rare breed?! A mini Husky?!

We're kidding of course, here we have another old Chihuahua.

Beau is about 13-years-old of pure senior Chi energy. This sweet and lovely little man recently lost his beloved owner and found himself in the shelter. While we love and adore him, Beau needs a comfy couch and human of his own to spoil him in his golden years.

Beau is a delight. He is quiet, kind and easy to care for. He is very neutral with other animals, likely being ok in a home with other mellow pups. Like all old Chihuahuas, he doesn't like the cold and prefers a warm bed or lap to curl up on.

Despite his advanced age, Beau is in good health and recently had a dental, getting 13 very yucky teeth removed.

Unlike the many bitey little pups we've had recently, Beau isn't like that. You'll fall in love with this mini Husky senior like we have. Email [email protected] for an application.

Pluto is really a nice cat. This 3-year-old tuxedo always looks his best!

Pluto is affectionate, curious and great with all! He previously lived with another cat and has tried to make a few feline friends while at SAS.

Previously adopted from SAS, Pluto was returned after some medical issues that led to inappropriate urination in his home. Pluto had a huge, and we mean HUGE bladder stone we have removed. This guy must have been very uncomfortable! With a prescription food diet, Pluto should not have issues in the future. We will also set up his new home with litter attractant to get him off to a good start. We have not had issues with him during his stay at the shelter.

You'll fall in love with this sweet guy. He will make a great companion and friend to a cat or human!

Looking for a gal for Galentine's Day ❤️

Lovely Lilly is an absolute doll of a dog. This petite little lady is just about 7-months-old and has the high energy of a puppy and the s***k of a Chihuahua but is all affection!

Lilly loves everyone. She adores children and really wants to play with other dogs. Lilly would be too much for a senior pup, she's always on the move! Lilly previously lived with a cat, so likely fine with a feline in the home.

Lilly is p*e pad trained and also goes outside. She loves to walk but like all Chihuahua's doesn't enjoy the cold. She wants to cover you in kisses and be held, she has all the perks of a tiny dog.

Like many small dogs, Lilly can be a bit barky when she doesn't get her way or she sees a dog she wants to make friends with. Otherwise she is pretty quiet.

Since Popeye isn't available here is your next best mate, a gorgeous black and white kitty named Sailor. Even though her name invokes the love of the water, most cats are opposed to getting their paws wet and would rather be in a land-loving home.
