This is why we volunteer and care so much about this program.

The shelters are full, the rescues are full, daily FB posts of strays and drop offs, posts of people trying to rehome or find a good home BUT we still come across that person who wants their dog or cat to just have one litter 🤦‍♀️😡

Thank you so much to the folks donating to our Giving Tuesday fundraiser!! We are hoping the fundraiser helps fix a lot more pets in the new year. Because of a generous grant from Lozier, we will be able to start issuing vouchers in January 2025! We will be covered by the grant for January and February but will be struggling again after that.

Please consider making a donation in the post below. Any amount donated will be helpful! Several people have donated in honor of a loved one ❤️ And as a Christmas present to a friend ❤️ What a great present! Fixing a Mama dog! ❤️

Thank you for supporting Spay Neuter Jackson County!!

About SNJCA

Spay Neuter Jackson County Alabama is here for you! Our purpose is to provide financial assistance and/or transportion to have your pets spayed and neutered so they live longer, healthier lives. Our mission is to reduce the large amount of unwanted pets, end dog and cat abandonment in Jackson County and stop the euthanizing of healthy, adoptable animals at the Scottsboro Animal Shelter. In just over 3 years, we have helped spay and neuter over 1,200 cats and dogs! We currently have two ways to help you “fix” your pets.

Option #1- If you are on government assistance (welfare, disability, medicaid, social security) or your annual household income is $40,000 or less, you may qualify for our income assistance program. At your request, we mail you a simple, one page application to complete. Once it’s returned and approved, you will recieve a voucher to use at one of four vets in Jackson County. You make your own appointment and take your pet at your convience. Your cost for a cat spay or neuter is $30 and a dog spay or neuter is $40. For this program you must be a Jackson County resident and there is a 3 pet per year limit. You have 45 days to use your voucher. To request an application call 256-299-9726, send us a message on Facebook or visit our website at www.spayneuterjcal.org

Option #2- We transport dogs and cats once (sometimes twice) a month to the North Alabama Spay and Neuter Clinic in HSV and/or Southern Alliance Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic in Fayetteville. There is NO income or county restrictions for the transports. You pay what the clinic charges for the procedure, there is no charge for the transport. The prices are posted when the transport event is announced on our page and on our Transports section of our website. Our spots are limited so they usually fill fast. There are links on the Transports page to fill out an application for the transport you choose. Pick up and drop off is in the Scottsboro Shelter parking lot. Both clinics are excellent and we take great care of your pet. Each pet is in separate crate with a soft blanket. We have proudly spayed and neutered over 550 pets with our transports!!

We are strictly volunteers trying to help our neighbors and their pets and make our community a better place to live. Our funding is NOT from the county, state, or federal government. Our programs are funded solely by donations and fundraising events. Please consider making a donation. You can donate on our website through the donate button on our website or click here, on our page, or mail your donation to: SNJCA, P.O. Box 972, Scottsboro, AL 35768.
