For those who don’t know, here’s the story of how SoxyDog Swimming came to be 🐾🐾♥️🐾🐾

My sister Chloe and I were adopted by Gina and Mike when we were 8 weeks old. We became visiting therapy dogs for www.petsonwheelsscottsdale.org when we were still pups. I think they made an exception for us to visit together since Chloe was so cool and I was so fun. For over 11 years we visited assisted living and special learning centers, partied in the cool pines with our dog friends, swam in lakes, rivers, and pools, raced through the desert, chased lizards in the yard, and performed all sorts of silly tricks for treats. I always waited for Chloe to eat her treats before I would eat mine.
One of our favorite things (besides getting treats) was getting tucked in at night by our papa and having our ‘velvet ears’ rubbed by Gina. Chloe and I did everything together and we were inseparable.

In September 2017 Chloe moved to Heaven. I met Chloe and many of my dog friends at the Rainbow Bridge in September 2020. For those extra three years of my life I still enjoyed doing pet therapy visits (including Zoom), swimming, fetching ball down the hall in the house, and barking at Gina and Mike to play with me at night in my room full of toys. For the last year of my time here I was completely deaf so Gina and Mike had to use hand signals to communicate with me. It didn’t take me long to learn since Gina is Italian and had always used her hands when talking to me anyhow.

I was so lucky to have a pool to swim in when it was hot. At 14 years old I still swam over 6 laps almost every day which kept me fit and helped my arthritis a lot! Gina called me Soxy mama so that is how the name SoxyDog Swimming came to be. I talked papa into letting us share the pool he built so other dogs can have fun too!

Some dogs enjoy swimming year-round here in Arizona. We always advise checking with your vet to make sure the colder water is ok for your pooch, even if it’s just for a shorter session💦
