Back in April, witnesses saw an unfamiliar vehicle pull into their neighborhood, dump a fearful little dog out on the street, then leave the scene. Loyal to her core, for three weeks this confused and vulnerable dog hung around the area, waiting, if not hoping, for her people to come back. They never did… Instead, something infinitely better happened! A HARTT volunteer took on her case, humanely trapped her, and found a rescue (us) to take her in. Although she was still scared, this tiny girl was finally safe! What’s more, after some decompression time, she proved to us that she was actually BURSTING with personality! In fact, it’s how she got her name. Tipping over onto her belly whenever we’d go to pet her and often taking naps belly up, “Tipsy” was the perfect fit! When Tipsy wasn’t busy tipping, she was either cuddling with her people, gnawing on a bone, or chilling with her doggie friends. We quickly discovered she enjoyed sunbathing, too, and a walk around the block was sure to bring her happiness (we’d even catch her “hunting” grasshoppers along the way). If we were feeling adventurous, she was well behaved during outings, whether it was a dinner date at OHSO, a coffee run to Starbucks, or a stroll down the aisles of Marshalls. From HomeGoods to Home Depot, she’d follow us anywhere! In her future home, we knew Tipsy would require some time to adapt to her new life and her new routine. Her adoptive family would have to be patient and determined to work with her just as we have, so she could build trust. Additionally, she would need a confident doggie friend to help show her the way. So, when we got an application in from a very sweet couple who has some experience with timid dogs, works from home (allowing for ample time to bond), owns a social dog (a good role model), and believes in taking their dogs everywhere (which would help Tipsy get the exposure she needs)… we knew these people were HER PEOPLE. The best part of all? After finalizing her adoption, it only took a few days for Tipsy to become the tequila to their salt and lime! It may have taken her a while to find the perfect home, but, once she did, our precious girl was SO ready for it ❤️
