On April 5th, we welcomed Trooper into our care. His journey began in Casa Grande, where he was tragically hit by a truck. The driver didn’t stop, but a compassionate couple witnessed the accident and immediately sprang into action, calling for help.
🧡Trooper was brought to a shelter by animal control, and with the assistance of a dedicated rescue partner, he was quickly coordinated for emergency surgery in Nogales, Mexico. He had suffered a fractured pelvis and nerve damage in both back legs. After his surgery, Trooper was fitted for a prosthetic leg and made his way into our care.
🐾Despite his resilience, one of his legs wasn’t responding properly. During a follow-up visit, the vet determined that the nerve damage in his leg was too severe, and he wouldn’t regain strength in it. To ensure Trooper’s long-term quality of life, they recommended amputating the leg.
On June 4th, Trooper underwent the amputation surgery. His tail, which had lost all sensation and function, was also amputated. Trooper’s recovery was remarkable, and by June 18th, his sutures were removed, and the incisions are now continuing to heal.
🌟Now, Trooper is ready to find his perfect home. While he won’t be fully released until his medical clearance is complete, we are looking for a foster-to-adopt arrangement. If you’re interested in giving Trooper the loving home he deserves, please email our Director of Shelter Operations [email protected]. #rescuedog #arizona #foothillsanimalrescue #scottsdale #phoenix #dogs #tripeddog #rescueemergencycare

An update on Sammy🐾 In March, Sammy began working with Andrew from Destination Dogs Training to learn about vibration collar recall, leash training and house manners. Recently, Andrew visited the rescue to teach staff about the proper methods of vibration collar training. Now, our staff and volunteers keep up with Sammy’s training, and Sammy continues to learn more and more every day🧡 We will keep everyone updated on Sammy’s progression⭐️ #rescue #doglover #deafdog #dogtraining #vibrationcollar #animalrescue

Yesterday, our resident deaf dog Sammy was taken to the emergency veterinary hospital because he was vomiting and lethargic. There the medical team discovered that he had an obstruction and needed emergency surgery.
We’ve set up this campaign with a goal of $15,000 to cover this life saving procedure for our boy who we have grown to love. Sammy's surgery was successful and is still in the hospital for recovery and observation.
Foothills Animal Rescue needs your help, to fund this life-saving procedure and ensure that we can provide other necessary medical procedures for the animals in our care.
Please help if you can. Every donation makes a difference.

Our cat enrichment team here at FAR works with our cats weekly so that they can get a break from their rooms, and have some dedicated playtime. While our volunteers and staff check in on the cats at least twice a day, enrichment is an opportunity for them to stretch their legs, and work on their socialization 🐈⬛
