A moment of reflection - As a professional dog trainer for many years, I’ve had the distinct honor in building relationships with so many incredible dogs and their wonderful owners. Countless memories made as these dogs and their owners became great friends, and chosen family. ❤️ This picture is a reminder to me of those beautiful experiences. This picture is of my Dogology AZ Urban Canine Class. The dogs in this picture have since passed on, with exception of two. It’s bittersweet as I miss each one dearly but it’s because of them that I have gained so many wonderful people in my life and now… new dog friends. These owners still train in our Dogology AZ classes and the journey continues. Dogs sure are the greatest gift of all.

Don’t think of her as gone away 
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets 
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today

Crate training is a great idea for dog owners of all ages. Crates are useful tools for puppies, safe havens for senior dogs, and lifesavers for emergencies.

1. Turner - Chocolate Labrador, 2 years male/intact
2. Two - Chocolate Labrador, 2 years male/intact
*Both these boys need to be in female dog only households.

3. Papa Oso - Chocolate Labrador, 7 years male/intact -*female dog housemates only

4. Red dog - F1 Labradoodle, 10 months male/intact
5. Chocolate - F1 Labradoodle, 10 months male/intact
6. Birdie - F1 Labradoodle, 10 months female/intact
7. Highland - American Bully, 7 years female/spayed
*ONLY ANIMAL household required.

All of the these dogs are crate trained, housebroken, travel well in vehicles. Current on vaccinations l, microchipped and healthy. All dogs will be altered and fully recovered prior to being released into their approved homes.

To approved homes, adoption fees apply.

Crate training -
Crate training is a very beneficial tool in proper dog training. Crates offer a safe, secure environment for our puppies and dogs. When introduced, trained and managed properly, crates offer our dogs a comfortable, “private space” that allows them to decompress and relax.

They aid greatly in the prevention of negative behaviors and also help in behavior modification.
They promote stability in our dogs, helping to prevent separation anxiety.

They are NEVER a punishment.

They are not a “cage”. Owners must understand things from a canine behavior point of view, not a human one. An owners negative views and emotions toward crate training and other control based methods of balanced dog training will only negatively effect their dog.

*Pictured are Resident Campers Zaya and Ace. They have just checked into camp and we are re-establishing their crate training. Following both physical and mental exercise, both dogs are crated and given a frozen beef marrow bone. This helps create a more positive association with their crates and aid in their decompression and acclimation to camp.

Notice to all dog owners:
Dog daycamps, daycares and dog parks are NOT a species safe, appropriate or productive form of socialization. THIS IS NOT PROPER SOCIALIZATION.

These situations only open your dog up to communicable illnesses, parasites, injury and a vast array of behavioral issues.

Dogs do require varying levels of both mental and physical exercise but there are safer and healthier options. Experienced professional trainers recommend a variety of wonderful options from basic through advanced obedience, daily walks, hiking, trick training, canine sports, group classes, etc.

Engagement is one of the first skills we teach all dogs. When dogs learn that paying attention to their handler gets them positive reinforcement, they want to listen to their handler and offer behaviors that will get them rewarded. Training should be an enjoyable process.

As we all go into the Holiday weekend this is a friendly reminder…especially because holidays bring dogs together that don’t live together… MOST dogs are not truly social with all dogs. Even tolerant dogs don’t want to socialize with every dog they meet. Please go slow with new dog introductions and don’t add unnecessary stress to seniors or fearful dogs. Sometimes it’s best to separate and keep the peace!!!! My two cents…. Emily

Farewell wild man Wrigley. ❤️

As professional dog trainers we are blessed to share our lives with so many special souls throughout our career. Each dog we develop a relationship with, build, shape and help to maintain throughout their life, hold a special place in our hearts.

A curse of this very thing is sharing in the heartbreak when these beloved souls pass away. The longer we train, the more we love and the more we lose. Our hearts hurt for their families as we know this pain all too well.

No matter the hurt, it is always outweighed by the countless beautiful memories.

Today we say farewell to another. The kindest, silliest, Golden boy Wrigley. Thank you so much to the Whitten family for sharing this remarkable dog with me for so many years. I was truly special.

GREAT NEWS ALERT 🚨
Our beloved student Cecil (Afghan Hound) was adopted into his forever home last week.
His new family are already part of the Dogology AZ and Zona Labrador family and we couldn’t be happier. It’s the PERFECT match!
We will continue training with Cecil and his family and help ensure complete success. 😘🍾

This is why DOGOLOGY AZ requires a 4 week minimum Resident Camp for new students.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING!
Before we can teach and modify behaviors, the dog must know us and trust us. This is a CRUCIAL STEP. We must also take nutrition and physical health/conditioning into account prior to modification. While we allow the dog to acclimate, begin building a relationship, this is our time to diagnose behaviors.

There are no “quick fixes” in proper training.
