Our mission at Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary (FLPS) is to help overlooked senior dogs in Arizona find their forever homes.

Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary (FLPS) is the only senior-only animal rescues in Maricopa County, Arizona. Formed in 2012 as a non-profit 501[c][3] organization, the focus of FLPS is to save senior animals who are often overlooked by providing them the opportunity to thrive in a safe and caring environment. FLPS serves a public need by offering housing to a limited number of senior pets. This safe hav

en takes the burden of temporary care and housing of senior animals off of local shelters. Inevitably, local shelters resort to euthanizing these abandoned, senior animals at an alarming rate. According to a 2012 statistics report, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) euthanizes one animal every eight minutes it is open to the public. Euthanasia for senior residents is the primary option for most local shelters because they tend to focus their efforts on a high adoption model that includes younger “more adoptable” animals. FLPS works with local shelters and rescues to identify the senior animals in need and provide a streamlined process for interested men, women and families who wish to adopt.

🎉 Big news—Pablo Picasso, now lovingly known as Paco, is ADOPTED! 🐾❤️

After seeing his sweet face on our website, Bonnie knew it was time to open her heart again after the loss of her beloved Max. With patience and love, Paco has blossomed in his new home. 🏡💖

He’s already bonded with his new nap buddy, Minnie, and loves sleeping by Bonnie’s side at night. From his days with us since June 2024 to now living his best life, this happy ending wouldn’t be possible without our incredible volunteers.

🌞 Meet Pete 🌞

A Unique Little Guy with a Big Heart!

Hello there, I’m Pete, a 7-pound, 8-year-old Chihuahua with a one-of-a-kind personality looking for a special forever home! 🏡🐾

Here’s the scoop on me:
🐾 Affection on My Terms – I’m like a cat in a dog’s body! I enjoy love and playtime, but I prefer minimal handling. I’m all about cozy naps and burrowing under blankets with my human—just avoid surprising me with unexpected touches, please.

🐾 Playful & Independent – I love fetch and sunbathing. I’ll greet you at the door with wagging tails, but I’m not big on playing with other dogs or cats. I like to do my own thing!

🐾 Low Maintenance – I’m doggie-door trained and can be left alone without a fuss. I’m mostly potty trained, but I might have an accident when it’s chilly. I prefer grazing on kibble throughout the day and rarely bark.

🐾 Special Requirements – I’ll need a secure outdoor space for potty breaks without the need for a leash or harness. My ideal family is patient, gentle, dog-savvy, and willing to respect my boundaries.

❤️ Meet Sammy ❤️

Hi everyone, I’m Sammy, an 11-year-old Beagle mix bursting with love and life! ❤️ I weigh 19 lbs and came to Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary after being surrendered to the Humane Society. Thanks to their amazing care, I’m now in tip-top shape with all my lumps and bumps gone and sparkling clean teeth (hello, fresh breath!). 🐾✨

Here’s a little more about me:
✔️ House trained and well-behaved
✔️ Great with kids and other dogs
✔️ Perfect leash manners
✔️ A big fan of treats (but I’ve been working on my figure, so let’s keep it balanced!)

I adore spending time with my people—whether it’s going for walks, snuggling up for some love, or just being by your side. I do whine a bit when left alone, so I’d prefer a home where you’re around more often than not. 🏡

I’m a spunky, active Jack Russell terrier mix who’s full of love and energy. I may be blind in one eye, but you’d never know it—I’m always up for walks, tug-of-war, fetch, or snuggling on the couch. 🐾💖

I’ve got brains, too! I know commands like “sit,” “shake,” and “get down.” Plus, I’m housetrained and love puzzle mats and squeaky toys. Just call me your curious little sidekick! 🐕✨

Hi everyone, my name is Nana, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself to you! My first wish came true when I was transferred from the Yuma Humane Society to Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary, and now I’m dreaming of my second wish—a loving forever home. 💕🌟

I’m an 8-year-old, 5.5 lb darling Chihuahua with a heart full of love. 🐶 I recently had a mammary mass removed (don’t worry, I’m in perfect health 🩺) and even had my teeth cleaned—no extractions needed! 🦷

I’m currently in a foster home where I’ve been an amazing house guest
✔️ House trained
✔️ Calm, quiet, and cuddly
✔️ Great with other dogs and top-notch communication skills!

🚗🐾 Co-pilots reporting for duty! 🚗🐾

A busy day for some of our amazing FLPS pups including:
✨ Maxx, who’s available for adoption, got his sutures removed and is officially ready to find his forever home!
✨ Hospice foster Audy enjoyed a little pampering with a manicure (thanks, Kim at All Creatures!)
✨ Sweet Penelope, our newest girl, had a successful mass removal surgery and is now resting in the loving care of her foster mom, Eileen.

A huge shoutout to fosters Carol and Eileen for giving these senior sweethearts the love and care they deserve. 💕 Thank you for being the heroes behind the scenes!

The Rubes was not feeling well this morning. After vomiting several times, she earned a visit with Dr. Bob. We know our girl has an heart murmur, enlarged heart and enlarged liver so this was concerning. A shot of cerenia to help with the upset stomach was our conservative route today.
