This handsome boy is available for adoption at the Animal Shelter!!! He is an adult Snowshoe and is SO sweet. His adoption fee is $65 and this covers his appointment to be neutered and his rabies vaccine!
The shelter is open today until 12!
Kovu has been here before, and she has the sweetest little chirp when she meows.
She is also a huge fan of our duck puree. (It's how I earn most of my love from cat clients 😅) and she's willing to allow me to do anything in exchange for a little squeeze from the "goodie tube"
Sweet Maggie got a degreasing/deshedding bath and brush out today. She was a little shy at first, but when the cat comb came out and she realized how nice it felt, I was getting head bumps and snuggles and even a little love bite/nibble on my arm. She's an absolute doll!
Cambria is a senior girl who has a hard time keeping herself clean and mat free so she came in for a really good degreasing/deshedding bath and brush out. Isn't she gorgeous 😍

Dot's mom works at the school and so she got to spend all day with us yesterday! Most heelers are known to be "spicy" but she is such a doll. She even climbed up in the chair and snuggled in between dogs!

This is baby Lainey and let me tell you what, my dachshund puppy fever is at an all time high! I got to hang out with her for 8 hours today and we had ALL the fun! She was pretty shy at first but it didn't take long for her to come to the realization that I'm a heck of a lot of fun and I have snacks!
She was my little shadow all day, explored the ramp that leads to the window where she caught some sun! She chased Dove the shop cat and then Dove chased her, she learned that buffalo jerky is AWESOME! Squeaked a few toys and took some naps!
She also learned that sometimes we have to take a bath even if we aren't a fan of it. 😆
I'm super excited to see her again in 6 weeks.

Clipping your dog's nails is more than a cosmetic chore. Veterinarians warn that unhealthy nails can cause pain and trigger irreversible damage to the dog. Long nails can turn a sound paw into a splayed foot and reduce traction, and they can cause deformed feet and injure the tendons over an extended period. As the long nail hits the ground, the pressure puts force on the foot and leg structure.
Here is an example you can see the difference in the 2 feet after the nails have been trimmed and filed. The pressure being exerted backward on the foot has been relieved thus reducing the pain and stress on the joints and ligaments.

It's that time of year again. We are currently scheduling appointments into 2025 and kindly ask that you consider your availability and inform us of your preferred days and times during your next appointment for your standing 2025 appointments.
There are some important changes coming in 2025 that we believe will benefit everyone. Beginning January 1st, 2025, we will only be able to accommodate pets on a standing 8-week or less grooming schedule. Consistent grooming is essential for pets' well-being, as irregular grooming can result in extra time and effort due to factors such as overgrowth, excess dander, fear, etc. Not to mention Marci and I's bodies really feel the extra wear and tear.
Effective immediately, our closing time will be strictly enforced at 3:30 pm NOT 3:39 or 4:15. We have always implemented a late pickup fee of $1 per minute, with a maximum waiting time of 45 minutes. Any pets left beyond this time will be cared for overnight at an additional cost of $100.00. We've always had this policy but I've unfortunately been lax about letting folks get away with it, but enough is enough.
As of 2025, Fridays will be designated for cat grooming appointments only, with exceptions made for pre-scheduled canine clients. Caturday appointments are nearly at full capacity.
To accommodate teachers and school staff, we will adjust our working hours to 9-5 on a designated day each month. This change is intended to make it easier for you to pick up your pets before we close.
Additionally, starting January 1st, 2025, the cost of walk-in nail trims will increase to $15, or $20 for a trim and file.

Early in a pet groomer's career, there is often a defining moment when a dog solidifies their love for the profession. For me, that moment came when a very special dog named Mucca, owned by my close friend, Emiley Roebuck (Scottsville Pet Grooming) opened my eyes to the incredible connections that can be formed with animals on the grooming table.
Despite being new and having limited experience, (think she was the 3rd or 4th dog I ever groomed) Mucca's calm demeanor and enjoyment of the grooming process inspired me to view grooming as both enjoyable and fulfilling. This experience with Mucca fueled my passion for cultivating strong relationships with all the pets I work with.
While my skills and knowledge were honed by my mentor Jessica (Groomingtails of BG), it was Mucca who truly sparked my love for this career.
Sadly, Mucca recently passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. In honor of her memory, we have chosen the Australian Shepherd Rescue and Placement Hotline as our rescue we will be donating to this month

Cats have long been celebrated for their magical purring abilities, capable of instantly whisking us away to a state of pure relaxation. But have you ever delved into the mysterious depths of why cats purr? Surprisingly, there's much more to this soothing sound than meets the ear. Purring isn't just a signal of a cat's happiness - it's their way of self-soothing in times of pain or distress. Experts speculate that the vibrations from purring can help calm cats down and alleviate stress, acting as their very own personal therapy session. Not only do these purring vibrations benefit cats, but studies have shown they can actually help heal injuries and reduce inflammation. Cat purring has been shown to fall between 25 and 140 Hz. The same frequency has been shown to aid in the healing of broken bones, joint and tendon repair, and wound healing. That's why your furry friend might crank up the purr volume during times of recovery. But wait, there's more! Did you know your dog will spend 300+ hours at the groomers? Grooming is an essential and ongoing process for your dog, with appointments typically needed every 4-8 weeks throughout their lifetime! It is highly recommended to start grooming puppies at an early age, ideally before 16 weeks, to make the experience easier, safer, and less stressful for them as they grow older. So start early! Beginning early allows puppies to familiarize themselves with vibrating tools, being touched all over, the sound of dryers, having their nails trimmed, and other grooming procedures without developing fear or anxiety. It is a misconception that cutting a puppy's hair too soon will damage their coat. In fact, puppies are generally more receptive to the grooming process at a young age compared to starting later in life. While not all puppies may need a haircut, it is crucial for all puppies to get accustomed to being handled in various ways. The first visit to the groomer sets the tone for their future grooming experiences. During their initial visit, a "puppy package" is offered, which includes a bath, blow dry, brushing, nail trimming, and tidying of specific areas like the face and paws. The goal is to introduce puppies to grooming gradually, making it a fun and positive experience through snuggles, kisses, and playtime. This goes for ALL puppies from doodles who need haircuts to lab puppies who will only ever get a bath and nail trim. The handling is all the same. Next, have realistic expectations. One day that vision you have in your head as the perfect look will happen but a lot of it is up to your pup. Are they comfortable? Will they stay still and safe? Have you worked with them and your groomer to help them succeed? Their first haircut may be a tad “sloppy” as they are learning but keep at it and that vision of yours will come to fruition.

To the man from Nelson County that drives the silver dodge stratus plate# 981 WEF, maybe you're unaware, but there's a PUBLIC bathroom at the Casey's gas station about 20 feet from your parked car. It's honestly the cleanest public bathroom in all of Allen County! I don't come to your house and urinate on your trash can so I kindly ask you don't do the same to mine as I really love my Pink Trash can from Martin's, so much so I don't even allow the dogs to mark it. Piper the cutest little Jack Russell X came in today for a deshed bath and nail trim! With consistent regular nail trims her quiks will begin to recede and nails become shorter and shorter.
