Hey all! 👋

I know it's been more than a minute since I have posted. But, I'm still here....grooming 5 days a week!

The entire month of May, June, and part of July I was up to my ears in puppies. I was fostering a Momma dog and her 8 babies (from 5 days old). They were all adopted and gone to their homes by the 2nd week of July, except for Momma. She was just adopted the other day. 💓 All of the dogs are doing wonderful in their homes! ☺️

In mid June my own senior dog Luna was in failing health and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her and end her suffering.💔
And now our last dog Finn (aka Pudge) who is also old and in poor health has been struggling, so it has been an emotional couple of months. 😥

🌟UPDATE ADOPTED🌟

Look 👀 who came to see me to get his nails and Grinch feet trimmed ✂️ today.

Our old man Foster Mutt, Winston!. 🖤 And he is AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.
He is such a good boy! We don't get why this dapper old man hasn't been snatched up!

He loves going for walks, playing with his toys, lounging around on the couch and snacking on treats. He is UTD on vaccines, neutered and current on his flea and tick and Heartworm/Lyme Prevention. He gets along with other dogs and would make a great addition to the right family.

He may be a senior and vision impaired but he has a lot of life left in him, and excellent hearing! . Someone out there needs him in their life!.

YES.... I'm still here and back to work.
It's been a long year already ....

Post Thyroid Cancer fun. 😜
I had my 1st Oncology appointment Monday morning.

Just going into some place that says "Cancer Center" makes me feel uneasy 🫤 But my appointment went well!
The surgery being successful with removal of the cancerous nodule and left thyroid. There is no further treatment needed at this time!! 🥰
Though there was lymphatic invasion it's not always a severe prognostic indicator, but can be associated with an increased risk of recurrence. Which is why I will have another neck/thyroid ultrasound in 6 months..keep an eye on those lymph nodes.

Given my family history of thyroid issues and Cancer, I am being referred for Genetic counseling. And the Oncologist will send for Next Gen sequencing of the tumor.

Around the end of August, beginning of September I will have the neck/thryoid ultrasound, then a follow up appointment with Oncology to review results. And also another appointment with the Endocrinologist, with routine Thyroid level checks.

If everything checks out good, will do it all again 6 months later. And then if that checks out good again, I will have it done yearly after that. 🤞

Helping up good! 8 weeks post op yesterday!!.💪

I appreciate your patience as I get back into the swing of things, after all I am a business of one... So everything from grooming, to scheduling to maintenance,etc it's me. 😁 ✌️

Hey Tidy Dog Family! 👋

I had my Endocrinology appt today in Grand Rapids. We basically went over all that has been done since I discovered the lump on my Thyroid in January, up until this point.

I need to have bloodwork done in a month, to recheck my T4 and TSH. Since it will be 4 weeks that I have been on meds and several weeks post op. The bloodwork will also check Thyroglobulin Tumor Marker Serum, that is something they monitor for recurrence but I still have half a thyroid so my level won't really be accurate to monitor, so they need to have my baseline.

The Levothyroxine is part of the treatment of thyroid cancer, preventing recurrence by suppressing TSH levels (thyroid-stimulating hormone) By maintaining adequate thyroid hormone levels it reduces the stimulus for cancer cells to grow. So.... they need to keep it in a certain range.

She did say that at 4 weeks it's little more swollen then she'd like to see.... she asked if anything happened to it... post op. I said no...but told her I went back to work last week and explained my job. I "may" have overdone it.....She suggested I ease up on work stuff for just another week or 2. 😏 And in the meantime, alternate between warm compress and ice. And to gently massage the incision area.
So I will be in touch with some of you about pushing out appointments..... again.

I have my Oncology appt. next month. Thyroid ultrasound in 6 mos. And I go back in September to the Endo., after ultrasound results are in.

Thanks so much Kim for the ride to my appt. our Jeep should be done by Monday!! I enjoyed snuggles from Mason County Mutts Foster Kitty Amora today on the trip there and back. 🥰

Hey Tidy Dog Family 👋

Day 16 Post Op

I got the phone call from Dr. Autry late this afternoon to go over the Pathology results. My post op. appt got cancelled today because he was called in for an emergency surgery.

The good news is it's Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Which is the most common type (70-80% of cases)

It usually grows slowly and often spreads to nearby lymph nodes. But prognosis is excellent with early detection and treatment. It is highly curable and rarely fatal.

The nodule was larger than appeared on the ultrasound, which is not uncommon. It actually measured 2.4 cm.

There was however Lymphatic invasion which is the spread of cancer cells through the lymphatic system and that is associated with higher risk of recurrence. So due to that I'm being referred to Oncology and between them and Autry we will cement a plan.

I will also start on the Thyroid medication, Synthroid. And will have a bloodwork recheck of my T4 level in 1 month.

Since I didn't get to see Dr Autry in person today he told me to call the office tomorrow and have them schedule me in for next week.

Overall, it's positive news, but I'll still take all the continued good vibes sent my way!! 🖤

Hey Tidy Dog Fam 👋

12 days Post Op. 🩶

It's healing nicely and I'm so glad to have all those sticky steri strips 🩹off.

There is still some swelling, so I still ice 🧊 it a few times a day, plus having cold on it just feels good.

It's an odd feeling to describe.... like it doesn't hurt, but there is a definite "feeling" there. Sometimes it feels like a little ball of something is sitting there or a pulling sensation. It doesn't hurt to swallow and it's not difficult to..... but when I do there is an obvious sensation I guess you could say.

Some of the skin above the incision doesn't really have feeling, it's kinda numb. And underneath the incision that feels kinda hypersensitive. All part of the healing process I'm sure.

My range of motion turning my head side to side without it feeling like something in my neck is gonna snap, is getting better. Looking up isn't as good... but I'm carefully working it. It'll get there.
And it's hurting less to sneeze! So that's good!

Hell the first several days after surgery I had my shoulders shrugged up because it felt like if I relaxed them my neck was gonna bust open. (Which I realize now it wasn't going to but ya know...) lol.

Overall things are improving and I'm doing my best to be patient with myself. I didn't realize how much you use your neck for until this surgery!! It's part of your core everything and not that I want to, but I know taking the next week off too really is the best thing I could do. I'm getting back into my regular things... but wrangling dogs, not just yet. .

Thank you again to all who sent get well cards, meals, have texted to check in, etc. It means SO VERY MUCH. I appreciate you all. 🥹

Hey Tidy Dog Fam 👋🏻
Here I am 8 days post op.Thanks for all the positive vibes and well wishes!! They mean more than you know! 🖤
The 3" incision is healing up well and I'm feeling decent. Still have soreness and a little swelling so am still icing it regularly.
When I found out I was going to be having surgery I cleared the week of surgery and reluctantly, cleared the following week as well. With the plan on getting back at it the following Monday, March 10th.
Well, I'm not sure how realistic that is. If this job wasn't physically demanding then absolutely, not a problem!!
But.... I need to basically have my head on a swivel and have the strength and stamina of an ox most days. My concern is... I know myself and am afraid I will push myself too fast, too soon. It's what I do! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 But the only one who is going to suffer is me. And it's only going to mess things up in the long run.
So, with that said. I am thinking of taking one more week off to be absolutely certain I am good to go. And by then I will have had my recheck appointment with the surgeon and have my pathology results.
So, if your pup has an appointment next week I will be reaching out to you to either reschedule or cancel their appointment.
Bear with me. I hate not working and miss seeing your pups! BUT I gotta put me first right now.

Hey Tidy Dog Fam. 👋🏻
Thank you all for your support and kind words.

Every day I feel a little better.
I'm down to ½ a pain pill every 5 ½ hrs.
I have been up all day (since 8:30) but have only been sitting on the couch. I did put all my earrings and nose rings back in though. 😁

My sis-in-law Pam came over and was here all day. That was awesome 💞 While Scot ran to the store I took a shower and afterwards Pam peeled my bandage off for me.

Dr Autry did say just before surgery since I didn't have any real obvious neck creases to hide the scar that this incision will leave a noticeable one. I told him no worries! I could have a cute little row of flowers tattooed there later. 😁

I sent these first 2 pics to my Mom earlier and she said
"Does it hurt to smile?"
And I replied
"Well ya....but it did before surgery" 😉🤣

So then I sent her the 3rd picture lol. ☺️
