Join us along with the US National Weather Service Corpus Christi Texas for one of our two Hurricane Preparedness Talks on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

The 10:00 AM session will be available virtually, here on the Victoria OEM page, while the 1:00 PM session will be in-person at the University of Houston-Victoria-University North Building-Walker Auditorium.

Topics for discussion will include what you can expect for the upcoming hurricane season, how to prepare, and a brief overview of any current activity in the tropics.

The events are free to attend, and all community partners, emergency management stakeholders, and community members are welcome. These discussions will serve to promote community preparedness and resilience in response to severe weather threats, and we encourage all to attend.

UPDATE: The dog is in the custody of Jen Sparkman Soefje and if the owner isn't found then it will be taken in and fully vetted by her nonprofit dog rescue. Contact her directly if you would like to make a donation to vet this furbaby or ask about adoption.

This pup is abandoned at the Seadrift Cemetery in Seadrift, TX off Cemetery Rd. We are trying to catch it and Rudy Rios has been leaving it food and water and trying to help catch it. It is scared to approach people. Do you recognize the dog?

Please come out to Hurricane Junction Red Snapper Roundup at Hurricane Junction Bar and Grill this Saturday, August 19th, to support this event. Portions of the proceeds will be split between several charities, including Rebel Rescue ! I will be set up on the back patio so come and say hello and support local charities! It is with great sadness that I share the loss of SPC Jacob Jowers 😢, a personal friend and fellow soldier of one of our board members. He leaves behind two children, belonging to a family member, that he took care of. Our military men and women are taking the hit and are coping with uncompromising circumstances that most of us cannot comprehend. Please help us raise money to give this man a deserved burial. His Falfurrias family needs help. See you in Valhalla brother. May you now be at Peace. If you know someone in the military or who has previously served, please have their back the way they have ours.

GREAT NEWS! Precious will never be forced to have another litter of puppies again and she is heartworm NEGATIVE!! Thank you to Adopt A Pet Victoria for all you do for the Rebel dogs. I've attached her expenses that we are trying to recoup. Including the booster she received, which I keep on hand and administer, her vetting costs are $185. Please mail donations to Rebel Rescue, 357 Armstrong Rd, Seadrift, TX 77983 or make a donation through our Cash app under Christy Bear $rebelrescue. You may also drop a donation off at any TDECU branch and have them deposit it into the Rebel Rescue account. If you are interested in adopting Precious and will provide her an indoor home in this South Texas heat then contact me at 361-237-9687. She is an awesome dog! If we don't find her an indoor home in Texas, then she will be going to a partner German Shepherd rescue in Colorado next month. As many of you know, for the health of our dogs and after getting several bags of food that made our dogs sick, we switched back to feeding a raw diet. Our food budget is just under $700 a month and feeding raw is 2 cents less per pound than buying the cheapest dog food in a bag. Can you donate to help us feed the rescue dogs each month? If just 35 people signed up for a recurring donation of $20 each month, then our food would be covered. Please donate whatever you can. We appreciate all of the support that you provide the Rebel Rescue dogs.

We are also raising the vetting fees for Precious, the German Shepherd who we rescued from Old Seadrift Highway. To date, we have still not found any puppies at the location and we put out a hidden game camera and no puppies appear to be in the area. The vetting for Precious is $150 and she goes to get spayed and heartworm tested on Monday, May 22nd, at Adopt-A-Pet in Victoria, TX. Precious has already received her rabies, vaccine shots, and been put on prevention medicine and I will have her with me at Warrior's Weekend in Port O'Connor this weekend if you would like to meet her. She is an awesome dog! Thank you for your support. Every dollar helps!

This little girl was dumped and is on Wischkaemper Road running after oil field trucks. It’s off FM108, halfway between Smiley and Yorktown. Nancy Taylor is treating her back, when she comes around and when she lets her. All this flooding rain is keeping it clean. If anyone can place her or rescue her then let Nancy know when you are on Wischkaemper and she will try to help locate her and help.

UPDATE: Rebel Rescue just got her trapped and RESCUED!!! Thank you Port Lavaca Animal Control for loaning us the trap. Once I put the house out and the community started feeding her, she stayed by the house. Jennifer saw pups with her last night so we still have to trap the pups. At least we have saved her FINALLY! She has been out here, citizens are telling us, for at least 2 months. I saw her the first time 4 days ago and set out the house for shelter and started trying to gain her trust. It takes a village and I want to say thank you to Haygen, Alex, Rhonda, Miss Nonie, Jennifer, Brian, Tracy, Rodney, and Heather for working with me to get her safely trapped. A BIG thank you to Megan Arreguin with Saving Animals Lives 24/7 for partnering with me to get these dogs to a cooler climate after vetting. I will personally be fostering her and her pups through her quarantine at my house and then she will be transferred to Saving Animal Lives 24/7 rescue, along with her pups once we catch them. It takes a village and we love y'all for always helping our rescue! We will be posting a fundraiser soon and they will be vetted under Saving Animal Lives 24/7 in Victoria at Crossroads Vet.

9:45pm Fri May 12 - We are out here tonight staking out the trap in hopes to trap her pups. We walked with her a long ways back and she never alerted. She walks beautiful on a leash and she didn't take us to her pups. 😢 And right there in the ditch where she was at...tonight....there sits a momma alligator and it's green and yellow baby alligator 😢 I am praying the gators did not get her puppies.....
Say a prayer that the pups come to their mom...we have her secure in a wire kennel at the moment, next to the trap, in hopes that the pups come to her. Prayers are appreciated. We are a family of BELIEVERS!

Original post: This girl is on Old Seadrift Highway, Seadrift, TX. I wasn't able to catch her. She is too afraid. I left her some food and water and I hope she will stay on the big culvert where I left the food and water. I'm going to return with a house to give her shelter in a few. Please leave the house so I can try to keep her there to feed her and gain her trust over the next few days. There is a large gator in the same ditch about a 1/2 mile away that is laying in wait on the side of the road and I'm worried if she goes any further then the gator will get her. If anyone knows where this dog belongs then please see if you can help return her to her family. Thanks for your help. 361-220-4814

This Thanksgiving we have not yet received any donations for food and need to raise the funds to buy more food. Our food bill is $900 a month. We appreciate your donations to help us buy food. Yet another scam going around. Apparently “Officer Brooks” is calling our fair citizens and telling them they have warrants. Then he is asking for personal and payment information.

First, we have no “Officer Brooks” and second, we would NOT ask for personal or payment information over the phone.

It is with great sadness that today one of our long time volunteers is laid to rest. We will miss Brandi Rodriguez and her heart and her love of animals. We saved many animals together over the years. I'm sending love and light to Robert and Brandi's family and I pray you find peace in knowing she has risen to the next phase of her life and lives on.
