Did you know some people actually can experience an allergic reaction from a Hedgehog?
Which are called Hedgie Hives its pretty much pet dander that is on their quills that they are poking into your skin. Want to know how to treat and prevent?

Wash immediately after handling with cool to Luke warm water with a gentle soap.
After your done handling your quill baby for the day you can apply Benedryl anti itch cream or a cooling spray.
Take an antihistamine 30 mins before handling.
Can wipe your hedgie with an unscented baby wipe before handling.

If you are considering a Hedgehog as a pet I would recommend calling area vet offices to see if they spealize in treating them. Since they are a exotic animal it could be difficult to find someone to treat them if needed.
