Established in 1986, the Seal Beach Animal Care Center is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter committed to finding permanent, loving homes for all the animals that come into our care. Our staff of dedicated volunteers ensures the animals are kept as comfortable as possible until they can be placed into new adoptive homes. As a no-kill animal shelter, getting through each day is an accomplishment.

While the SBACC primarily serves the City of Seal Beach, we attract adopters from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties, in addition to networking with other shelters, rescue groups, and animal sanctuaries across the country. We believe that through adoption counseling and education, we are helping to create a community that cares for animals with responsibility and compassion.

PIB has headed home! Originally named Mango, he came to us as a four-week-old kitten. He was adopted along with another kitten and had a home for a few months, but their adopters split up, and neither could take them, so they came back. PIB was the choice of this lovely lady to join the cat she adopted from us in 2017, Jazzie! She felt her cat needed an active playmate as their older cat had passed away and Jazzie seemed to be missing him. We wish them many years of happiness! 😻

This is one of my favorite places to hang out when I want to watch what all the teenaged kitties are doing without getting run over by them. I do have limited vision, so can get a little anxious when around too many other cats - I’ll stick my head through the 3rd rung of a little ladder on a cat tree right next to the main action so I can watch but also jump in to play with favorite toys. I’m October, a friendly 2 ½ year old girl who dreams of having a home of my own - as an only cat, or maybe with another kitty as a companion.

Jimmy is a playful guy who would LOVE to go home with another doggy friend! He just adores other dogs. Plus they help him trust people a little more each day. Jimmy was rescued from the streets of Mexico, so he is still a little skittish, but becoming more brave each day! Keep it up, Jimmy!💛

I’m Hera, a sweet, cuddly girl who makes friends easily and loves to wrestle and play. Then I'm ready for a little cat nap to recharge for the next go round! A condition caused temporary paralysis of my hind legs for just two days, after which I regained use of my legs, but my gait isn’t entirely normal. It’s thought to be an autoimmune neurological condition that’s not likely to recur. It didn’t slow me down - I’m still an active playful kitten looking for my forever home.

Hello, I’m Luna. I was adopted from SBACC as a kitten and had a home for over 4 years, then my mom got sick and had to be hospitalized. There wasn’t anyone else to care for me, so back I came. I’m a friendly girl who appreciates pets and conversation. I’m on a special diet for allergies and need some daily medicine, so can’t be in the general population and have been moved to my own room (an unused kitten room)! It would be great to find a new home with a special person.

Sisters Yuki and Yuna go home together! Yuki, Yuna, and their two sisters were found in a yard and brought to SBACC at six weeks old, not in very good shape. All had URIs and eye infections. Later, they all caught ringworm and were quarantined for months until it cleared up! Now nine months old, these girls got to go home with this lovely couple to be their only pets. They were grieving the loss of their older cat, who passed from Lymphoma just a couple of months ago, so we know Yuna and Yuki will help them have a much happier holiday! 😻

I’m Ziti, born to a feral mom along with three other sisters. We weren’t rescued until we were four months old, so it took us longer to feel comfortable around people. I do enjoy pets from those I get to know and two of my sisters have found their homes, so we’ve made progress! I’m nearly 3 years old now and there are quite a few teenagers (6 – 10 mos) in the room with a tendency to run all over the place, getting too close which I’m not very fond of. I’m hoping to find a patient family who’ll allow time for me to adjust to new surroundings and would do best with another young kitty for a companion.

Who was the pup, sorry elf, with the most holiday spirit?? Our gorgeous Nettie girl!! She couldn't wait to get to sleep last night so Santa Paws could come. Unfortunately this year she did not get a furever home for the holidays, but we're sure next Christmas she'll be spending it in a home of her own!🤞 Happy Howlidays from the SBACC pups! Monty loves a good pup cup! Enjoy the cuteness❤️

Oh Buttercup, if only we could make you comfortable at the shelter😂💛 Such a goofy girl.💛

Buttercup enjoying some scratches up in the yard💞 She was adopted pretty quickly, but sadly she was returned for being too active for a 13 year old. That's okay! That just means her perfect match is still out there, and needed a little more time to look for her. We hope she finds her perfect match in time for the holidays!💞

Every night, Tommy tucks himself in for the night🥹 He disappears seamlessly into the blankets. Sleep tight, Tommy💙 Edit: Tommy is NOT tethered to anything at night. He trails a leash because he has behavioral problems that make it so most volunteers cannot leash him up. This way Tommy is not stuck inside his night run all day long, and actually gets to go out and go for walks with his friends! We appreciate the concern, but this is for Tommy's wellbeing. The leash is always very lightweight, and changed out often. He gets time without the leash to play. Letting him drag the leash makes it possible for him to go on car rides out to new, fun places to walk instead of being stuck at the shelter. We just thought everyone would love to see how cute Tommy is when he tucks himself in.

Brandy LOVES playing with the collie ball💛💛 We can't thank our generous volunteers enough. Not only do they take the time out of their days to walk the dogs, but also bring in fun enrichment toys for them too!! Enjoy the fun!

Buttercup spends her nights getting tucked into her big, cozy bed💛 It's adopt a senior pet month, and there is nothing more rewarding than opening up your home to a senior pet. They are so special💛🐾
