Seal Beach Animal Care Center - SBACC

Seal Beach Animal Care Center - SBACC Animal rescue, pet adoptions, animal shelter. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit animal shelter.
(291)

Established in 1986, the Seal Beach Animal Care Center is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter committed to finding permanent, loving homes for all the animals that come into our care. Our staff of dedicated volunteers ensures the animals are kept as comfortable as possible until they can be placed into new adoptive homes. As a no-kill animal shelter, getting through each day is an accomplishment.

While the SBACC primarily serves the City of Seal Beach, we attract adopters from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties, in addition to networking with other shelters, rescue groups, and animal sanctuaries across the country. We believe that through adoption counseling and education, we are helping to create a community that cares for animals with responsibility and compassion.

He has joined the rest of the cats in his room and is having a great time! Just a year old, Dice was abandoned along with three kittens. He is sweet and friendly, come and meet him, and you'll fall in love! 😻

Mama delivered us in a backyard when her family moved away. A neighbor was feeding her, and when we were four days old, brought all of us to the shelter. Mama stayed with us in a foster home until we could eat on our own. We’re Ruby, Ranger, Reese and Rocky and we loved to run around the house playing with grown-up cats who live there. There was also a big, friendly dog, which we were a little unsure of because he was so much bigger than us. We’re active, affectionate and like to be held (Ranger, upside down!). It would be wonderful to be adopted along with a littermate, but a home with another kitten or young cat would be ok, too.

Randy is hoping to entice you with his darling smile to come down and meet him & his best friend Fred. They are on the shy side, but when they are together they are much more brave! Adopting pairs is great, as they have a friend to keep them company when you're at work! Randy and Fred are an adorable pair who love to walk, and especially love to get treats! Come down and meet these cuties!!🩵💙

Kitten Pewter has a new family! She was one of four kittens born in the bushes in someone's yard. She was the choice of this young woman to be her first cat! Pewter will also live with her parents and brother, who all work differently hours, so she won't be alone much at all. Her new Mom may consider a second kitten, but for now, Pewter will get all the love! 😻

Hi, I’m Halle. I was adopted from SBACC at about a year old, eventually joined by another cat (Berry, who’s also here with me), and the two of us became good friends. Sadly, our mom passed away and we were picked up by animal control, but my microchip brought us back to the center. Being in a new place was hard at first, we took turns hissing and growling at everyone, but we’re all settled in now. I’m a sweet, friendly girl who enjoys pets and I’m hoping to find a home where I can enjoy the rest of my senior years (I’m 14 years old!). It would be great if Berry and I could stay together.

Who is the happiest Mali we ever did meet? That would be NETTIE of course!! We can't believe this amazing girl has yet to find a home! Nettie is a volunteer favorite, so even though they are sad she is still at the shelter, they are happy they get to spend time with her.🩷🩷🩷

Last but certainly not least, of the first group of ringworm-quarantined cats who are now all clear are Joy and Terry! They were each found alone in different places, but both were in critical condition, flea-infested, malnourished, and with eye infections, and they were raised in the same foster home. Joy gets along with her roommates, but she often plays by herself and would do well by herself. Terry is an energetic, playful boy who would love another playful companion in his forever home! Please share to get these sweet teens into homes!

I’d been hanging out in a nice backyard for a few months but one day the people noticed I was limping, so I was brought to SBACC, then to the vet – nothing serious that antibiotics and a little cage rest couldn’t fix. I’m Chamber, a friendly, mellow one year old who likes playing with toys, being out on the catio, and watching the antics of the crazier teenagers. I get along with the other kitties in my room, though I’m more a solitary guy, and would love to find a forever home and family!

Next up in the re-introduction of our formerly quarantined kitties are Aspen and Nori! Aspen was found in a tree at eight weeks old, and Nori was one of four kittens abandoned in a box on the street. They are playful, active teenagers now looking for their forever homes! 😻

Hi, I’m Orchid, at the center with my lookalike sister, Orbit. We were found hiding in bushes outside a store when rescued at six weeks. We’re 1 ½ years old now, and while I can be a bit cautious around people, I do love to play and get along with most of the other kitties. Orbit and I have fun messing around together with mouse on wire toys and even more so those pesky patches of light that reflect off volunteer’s phones! I look forward to finding a home and family and would do best either with Orbit or another young cat in my forever home.

Meet Pupusa! He is actually the 13th ringworm survivor, but his story goes much further. Pupusa developed a life-threatening infection caused by a flesh-eating bacteria, which led to the amputation of one of his hind legs. He spent 11 days in a specialty hospital and wore a cone for weeks while his wounds healed, and he learned how to walk again. Pupusa has been such a trooper through all of this! He's a friendly, affectionate guy who is running, jumping, and playing again! Come meet him—we think you'll fall in love! 😻
