August Farms Pygmy Goats

August Farms Pygmy Goats Life on a family hobby farm with children, goats, horses, and other various animal adventures. August Farms is a small family farm near Searcy, Arkansas.

Permanently closed.

While our primary focus is on NPGA registered pygmy goats, the pygmies have plenty of friends including registered myotonic ("fainting") goats, a trio of miniature donkeys, and a horse. Our animals are adorable, friendly, and their unique personalities keep us entertained. Each spring we will have new pygmy babies for sale. They make great pets or 4-H projects. For those interested, registered pygmy goats can compete at NPGA shows all over the country.

Short and sad kidding season at the farm this year. Kid died late in the pregnancy and the doe couldn’t successfully pass the remains. We made the tough choice to put down the doe rather than attempt emergency surgery with a high risk of infection and painful death.

Sometimes farm life is just difficult.

Thankful for nicer weather and a much calmer new year's eve on the farm this year.

Last year's New Year's party games included "Shove the Tail End of the Donkey", "Drag the Pregnant Stiff-legged Fainting Goat", and "Move Your Butt You Stupid Horse".

I miss seeing the little ones theis year looking cute in their winter coats. Like these two from 2012.

I'm always amazed at how much personality bucks can have. These two were fun.

We’ve sold almost all of our goats, pending pickup on a few. We are keeping only 1 doe (Daffodil) and 1 buck (Pluto). We expect babies from Daffodil in March.

If the human health situation resolves, we may build our herd back up. However, in the meantime we will enjoy the ones we’re keeping and post pictures of them when possible. The barn feels empty, but it’s the right choice for the present situation.

Thank you for being with us on this journey.

Another reason for Fall goat babies... Who needs to hug a baby goat. Election day I voted sticker special seemed necessary for some after previous elections.

Shiny is older now and we hope for babies from her in the Spring.

We have been experiencing some (human) health issues and need to reduce our herd. Available for sale we have one proven buck (Camp Davis Mercury), and several does that have been exposed to August Farms Pluto. The registered does are a mix of junior and senior. All of them have kidded before. We also have one pet doe available.

We are willing to negotiate a discount for multiple purchases. We will not be able to transport. Private message us if you’d like more information.

The bucks and bucklings were easier to move than expected this morning. We just opened the side gate and made a bit of noise in the barn and they all came running. It wasn't primarily the call of food but an attempt to run from the rain.

The horses couldn't care less, but a few sprinkles and the goats want to go into hiding.

It's always fun when a kind stranger rings your doorbell to let you know there are goats by the road.

Technically, the bucks and bucklings weren't by the road, they were along the outside pasture fence making faces and trying to say hi to the does.

Either way we just spent an hour trying to catch the esacpees and now I already need my second shower of the day. Eau de Buck is definitely not my favorite cologne.

For several reasons, we decided not to do Fall babies this year, but having memory pictures like this one pop up makes me start to rethink that decision.

Summer Sale between now and Wednesday...

We have two NPGA pygmy bucklings with nice lineage on both sides. $325 each as bucks, $275 as wethers. $25 sale discount and $25 discount for purchasing both.

We also have three half myotonic half pygmy kids available - two bucklings/wethers and a doeling for $150 each or $400 for all three.

We may also have young female full pygmy available soon but we are waiting on updated health checks for her. She would be $300.
