Hey everyone! North Rhodes Taxidermy is seeking a full time taxidermist! We are a full service studio on the midcoast of Maine, with 21 years of experience. We handle roughly 600-700 pieces a year, with the majority being whitetails, black bears, moose and waterfowl. But we do a handful of African safaris every year, small game, and miscellaneous big game from around the country. It’s a very laid back environment, but we stay steady and try to produce the best quality we can.
We’re looking for someone with experience if possible.
A self starter, with a strong work ethic that works well with others. No smoking, drinking, or drugs allowed on the property.
Most everything is paid piece work with a small amount of tasks being hourly. A full time employee that stays busy and has experience can expect anywhere from $50,000-$65,000+ per year, on the books. Not a sub contractor. I also offer one week paid vacation after 6 months of employment, and a Xmas bonus.

My brother took his girlfriend Jess and my son Wyatt out for an eider hunt a few days back…. Wyatt got his first nice pair!!! Jess shot her first ever eider and it was banded!!! And it happens to be a pretty special one! The band was worn entirely smooth and thin. Not a trace of a number. Well yesterday they acid etched it while at my house. This drake eider was banded in August of 2002!!!!😳. As an adult bird no less!!!! So it was 23 years and 6 months old at the time of banding, making it we believe potentially the oldest recovered eider band on the east coast! It was shot in Charlestown Ri, where we grew up. It was banded in Milbridge, ME! Just unreal!!!

2023 whitetails are officially in progress…! That being said, we have a LOT of them to do and we’ll be mounting deer and other animals for the next few months at least to get through them all. If you have a 2023 deer with us, please be patient, it’s coming.

Put this gorgeous fella together yesterday… it had one single pellet hole in the head that made the real skull not worth using, so I used a cast head instead… gonna do a little more tweaking this morning…
